Zsédeny is a village in Vas county, Hungary. It is located along the 84th main transportation route, approximately 10 km from Sárvár, on flat, lean, sandy terrain, towards Sopron. History Its ancient roots are evident in the archaeological discovery of a prehistoric burial mound within the village's boundaries. The name Zsédeny dates back to the Árpád era, with its first mention found in documents from 1238. Over time, the village was referred to as Kiszsédeny and Vadkert. As early as the 13th century, a significant road passed through Zsédeny, connecting Egerszeg and Paty. Not far from this road stood the church dedicated to Saint Martin, the patron saint of the village. Sárvár ( or ; ; ) is a town in Vas County, Hungary. Sárvár lies on the banks of the River Rába at Kemeneshát. The population is nearly 16,000. The town has become a tourist centre of international renown. Etymology ''Sár'' means "mud" in Hungarian language, Hungarian, and ''vár'' means "castle". The latter is a common ending for settlement names. History During World War II, Sárvár was used as a centre for the internment for Polish soldiers who had arrived in Hungary in 1939. Later in the war, Sárvár was used as a concentration camp for the internment for thousands of Serb families expelled by Hungarian soldiers from their homes in northern Serbia in 1941. Geography, geology, and demographics The village of Nemesbőd is located in the middle section of the Gyöngyös plain, about 10 km northeast from Szombathely and adjacent to Szombathely's Zanat section. Neighboring communities include Vát, Vasszilvágy, Vép, and Vassurány. Nemesbőd is accessible via the main route 86. Historically, Nemesbőd has offered residents an agricultural lifestyle. According to the 18th century scholar, András Vályi, "Bőd is a region of miscellaneous character, mostly planar and fertile.
