An ''eroge'' (, ''eroge'', or , ''erogē'', ), also called an H-game, is a Japanese genre of erotic video game. The term encompasses a wide variety of Japanese games containing erotic content across multiple genres. The first ''eroge'' were created in the 1980s, and many well-known companies in the Japanese gaming industry originally produced and distributed them. Some ''eroge'' are primarily focused on erotic content, while others, such as Key (company), Key's ''Kanon (video game), Kanon'', only contain occasional scenes in an otherwise non-erotic work. Games in the latter category are often re-released with sexual content removed for general audiences. Battle Raper
is a eroge fighting game developed and published by Illusion Soft in 2002. The game has gained notoriety and controversy for its simulation of rape. This aspect was removed in its follow-up; ''Battle Raper II: The Game'' in 2005, which while still focusing on some sexual themes such as the removal of clothing, the sequel focuses more heavily on the fighting mechanic. Gameplay ''Battle Raper'' is a hand-to-hand combat 3D fighting game. The gameplay system features power-ups that can be picked up in the arena. The female characters can lose their clothes as they take damage and special moves include sexually explicit grapple attacks. Cherry Petals Fall Like Teardrops
is the third and last game developed by eroge maker BasiL, after their second installment 21-Two One-, before dissolving into what is now Navel. The game was released as a DVD ROM on August 9, 2002. The characters were designed and drawn by Aoi Nishimata.
