List Of Dukes In The Peerage Of Spain
This is a list of the 149 present and extant royal and non-royal dukes in the peerage of the Kingdom of Spain. The oldest six titles – created between 1380 and 1476 – were Duke of Medina Sidonia (1380), Duke of Alburquerque (1464), Duke of Segorbe (1469), Duke of Alba (1472), Duke of Escalona (1472), and Duke of Infantado (1475). Spanish dukes have precedence over other ranks of Spanish nobility, nowadays all holding the court rank of '' Grande de España'', ''i.e.'' Grandee of the Realm. Duke of la Alcudia (Spanish: ''Duque de la Alcudia'') is a title of Spanish nobility, Grandee of Spain 1st class. It was created by King Charles IV of Spain in 1792 for Manuel Godoy, who was the Prime Minister of Spain from 1792 to 1797 and from 1801 to 1808. Its name refers to the '' Valle de Alcudia'' in the Province of Ciudad Real in Spain. It is used as a waiting title by the first-born of the house of Sueca and Chinchón. House de la Cerda is a noble line of the Crown of Castile descending from the ''Infante'' Ferdinand de la Cerda, eldest son of King Alfonso X. It was one of four noble lineages that arose directly from the Castilian royal family during the thirteenth century and is the origin of the Dukes of Medinaceli. The origin of the lineage stems from ''Infante'' Alfonso de la Cerda (1270–1333), son of the heir to the throne, ''Infante'' Ferdinand de la Cerda who died before his father, Alfonso X. The House of Osorio is a Spanish noble lineage of the Crown of Castile. They descend from count Osorio Martínez, a prominent nobleman in the first half of the 12th century who was member of the Flagínez family and husband to a granddaughter of king Alfonso VI of León.
