List Of NFL Receivers Who Have Won The Triple Crown
In the National Football League (NFL) a receiver is said to have won the triple crown if they lead the league in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns within a particular season. Finishing joint first in any or all of those three categories is also considered sufficient. The term triple crown has been used to describe the feat at least as far back as 1990, when it was achieved by Jerry Rice. Since the NFL began keeping statistics in 1932, the triple crown has been won seventeen times by thirteen different players. This includes one player (Lance Alworth) who did so in the American Football League (AFL), the NFL having adopted AFL records when the two leagues merged in 1970. Don Hutson of the Green Bay Packers is the only man to win more than one triple crown, having done so five times (1936, 1941–44). 1936 NFL Season
The 1936 NFL season was the 17th regular season of the National Football League. For the first time since the league was founded, there were no team transactions (neither a club folded nor did a new one join the NFL), and all league teams played the same number of games (12). 1936 was also the third season of the NFL's 12-year ban on black players. The season ended when the Green Bay Packers defeated the Boston Redskins in the NFL Championship Game at the Polo Grounds in New York City, the first NFL title game to be held at a neutral venue. This is also the only time in NFL history that a team declined home field advantage and elected to play at a neutral site: while the Eastern Division champion Redskins were the home team, franchise owner George Preston Marshall, the Packers, and the League mutually agreed to move the game from Fenway Park due to low ticket sales in Boston. Elroy Hirsch
Elroy Leon "Crazylegs" Hirsch (June 17, 1923 – January 28, 2004) was an American professional American football, football player, sport executive and actor. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1967 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 1974. He was also named to the all-time All-Pro team selected in 1968 and to the National Football League (NFL) National Football League 1950s All-Decade Team, 1950s All-Decade Team. The 1951 NFL season was the 32nd regular season of the National Football League. Prior to the season, Baltimore Colts (I) owner Abraham Watner faced financial difficulties, and thus folded his team and gave its player contracts back to the league for $50,000. However, many Baltimore fans started to protest the loss of their team. Supporting groups such as its fan club and its marching band remained in operation and worked for the team's revival, which eventually led to a new, more lucrative Baltimore expansion team named the Colts in 1953. The 1944 NFL season was the 25th regular season of the National Football League (NFL). Each of the ten teams in the league played a ten game regular season schedule — a total of 50 contests. This culminated with a Championship Playoff played at the Polo Grounds in New York City on December 17, 1944 — a game won by the Green Bay Packers over the New York Giants, 14–7. In 1944 the Boston Yanks joined the NFL as an expansion team, while the floundering Brooklyn Dodgers rebranded as the Brooklyn Tigers for one final season before merging with the Boston newcomers in 1945. Both the Cleveland Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles resumed operations in 1944, while the Pittsburgh Steelers chose to combine operations again, this time with the Chicago Cardinals. The 1943 NFL season marked the 24th year of the National Football League. The league contracted to just eight teams, owing to wartime pressures for manpower, with each team playing a regular season schedule of 10 games — 40 contests in all. The season began Sunday, September 19 and culminated on Sunday, December 12, 1943. Due to the exodus of players who had left to serve in World War II, the Cleveland Rams were granted permission to suspend operations for this season, while the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers merged for this one season, with the combined team (known as Phil-Pitt and called the "Steagles" by fans) playing four home games in Philadelphia and two in Pittsburgh.
