''Lenta.ru'' (; stylised as LƐNTA.RU) is a Russian-language online newspaper. Based in Moscow, it is owned by Rambler Media Group. In 2013, the Alexander Mamut-owned companies "SUP Media" and "Rambler-Afisha" merged to form "Afisha.Rambler.SUP", which owns Lenta.ru. The online newspaper is one of the most popular Russian language online resources with over 600 thousand visitors daily. History In 1999 Anton Nosik launched Lenta.ru together with Gleb Pavlovsky of the Foundation for Effective Politics. It was (like vesti.ru) a sister e-news project under the brand Gazeta.Ru. Nosik served as its chief editor till 2004. A Berkman Center 2010 study found it to be the most cited news source in the Russian blogosphere. In 2013, Alexander Mamut through his ownership of the Afisha-Rambler-SUP Group acquired Lenta.ru. Right Sector () is a loosely defined coalition of right-wing to far-right Ukrainian nationalist organizations. It originated in November 2013 as a right-wing, paramilitary confederation of several ultranationalist organizations at the Euromaidan revolt in Kyiv, where its street fighters participated in clashes with riot police. The coalition became a political party on 22 March 2014, at which time it claimed to have roughly 10,000 members. Galina Viktorovna Timchenko (; born 8 May 1962) is a Russian-born Latvian journalist and the CEO, publisher and owner of ''Meduza''. Early life and education Timchenko was born in Moscow on 8 May 1962. She graduated from the 3rd Moscow Medical Institute. From 1997 to 1999, she worked as an editor at the ''Kommersant'' newspaper. In 1999, she moved to the newly created online edition '' Lenta.ru'', having risen from the monitoring officer to chief editor. In 2004, she assumed the position of editor in chief. Anton Borisovich Nossik (; 4 July 1966 – 9 July 2017) was a Russian journalist, social activist and blogger (10th place in RuNet according to Yandex.Blogs ranking). Sometimes he is called one of the godfathers of the Russian Internet or the first Russian-language blogger. Echo of Moscow () was a 24/7 commercial Russian radio station based in Moscow. It broadcast in many Russian cities, some of the former Soviet republics (through partnerships with local radio stations), and via the Internet. From 1996 its editor-in-chief was Alexei Venediktov. On 1 March 2022, it was taken off the air by Roskomnadzor accusing it of spreading false information about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. On 3 March, the board of directors voted to close the station down. While the radio programming of Ekho of Moscow ceased to exist, Venediktov and most of the employees began a spin-off YouTube channel, ''Zhivoi Gvozd (literally "Live Nail", in Russian a rhyming pun on the common term "Live Guest"), which follows the late station's format and schedule.
