Lyman House (Asylum Hill, Connecticut)
The Lyman House is a historic house at 22 Woodland Street in Hartford, Connecticut. It was built in 1895 for Theodore Lyman, a prominent local lawyer and corporate director. Since 1925 it has been home to the Town and County Club, a private Women's club (United States), women's club. A well-preserved example of Classical Revival architecture, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Description and history The Lyman House is located in Hartford's Asylum Hill neighborhood, west of downtown. It is on the east side of Woodland Street, north of its junction with Farmington Avenue. It is a three-story masonry structure, built out of yellow brick with stone trim. Its corners have stone quoining, and it is covered by a hip roof from which six chimneys project. Thomas Lyman House
The Thomas Lyman House is a historic house at 105 Middlefield Road in Durham, Connecticut. Built about 1774, it is a well-preserved example of late Colonial architecture, regionally unusual for its hip roof. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Description and history The Thomas Lyman House is located in a rural setting northwest of Durham center, on the east side of Middlefield Road ( Connecticut Route 147) just north of a stream crossing. It is a -story wood-frame structure, with two chimneys, a hip roof and two front dormers, and is oriented facing south. The front entry is sheltered by a small Doric-columned porch. A -story ell extends to the east, covered by a bellcast gabled roof. Windows are twelve-over-twelve sash, and the second story has a slight overhang over the first. David Lyman II House
The David Lyman II House, also known as the Lyman Homestead, is a historic house at 5 Lyman Road in Middlefield, Connecticut. Built around 1860, it is among the best Gothic Revival structures in the greater Middletown area. The house is built in part on the foundation of a 1785 house that originally stood on the site. Levi ( ; ) was, according to the Book of Genesis, the third of the six sons of Jacob and Leah (Jacob's third son), and the founder of the Israelite Tribe of Levi (the Levites, including the Kohanim) and the great-grandfather of Aaron, Moses and Miriam. Certain religious and political functions were reserved for the Levites. Most scholars view the Torah as projecting the origins of the Levites into the past to explain their role as landless cultic functionaries. Lyman House Memorial Museum
The Lyman House Memorial Museum, also known as the Lyman Museum and Lyman House, is a Hilo, Hawaii-based natural history museum founded in 1931 in the Lyman family mission house, originally built in 1838. The main collections were moved to an adjacent modern building in the 1960s, while the house is open for tours as the island's oldest surviving wood-framed building. The mission Reverend David Belden Lyman and his wife, Sarah Joiner Lyman, arrived in 1832, missionaries from the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions. It was one of the first houses on the island to be built in the style of their native New England, using native koa and ohia woods. Guests included Mark Twain and Isabella Bird. In 1854 - 1859 the new Haili Church was built across the street, replacing the thatched structures that served previously for the congregation. Lyman Scott House
The Lyman Scott House is a historic house located on U.S. Route 54 in Summer Hill, Pike County, Illinois. The house was built in 1844 by Lyman Scott, who founded Summer Hill the following year. Scott, an early Pike County settler who also founded Rockport, built the house as a summer home for his family. The two-story post and beam house features a front porch over its two front entrances; a gabled dormer was added to the porch in 1870. Scott, a prominent local merchant, also founded and funded Summer Hill's first school. Scott also served as a representative to the International Peace Conference in 1850. In 1853, Scott moved to Kansas, where he served in the state legislature. The house is the oldest surviving building in Summer Hill. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 10, 1983. Lyman Trumbull House
Lyman Trumbull House is a house significant for its association with former U.S. Senator from Illinois Lyman Trumbull. The house is located in the historic Middletown neighborhood in Alton, Illinois. Senator Trumbull was best known for being a co-author of the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. The house was built around 1849, and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1975. and   Senator Trumbull lived in this house from 1849 to 1863, according to the documentation provided in the National Historic Landmark application.
