Luv' Hitpack
Luv' Hitpack is the seventeenth single by the Dutch girl group Luv' released in 1989 by Mercury/Phonogram Records and is a Megamix conceived by Peter Slaghuis. It appears on the compilation Greatest Hits. The long version of this medley is included as a bonus track on the Box set Completely In Luv'. Song history Marga Scheide accompanied by two vocalists Diana van Berlo and Michelle Gold reformed Luv' in 1989 and promoted new material released by the Dutch label Dureco/High Fahion Music. Meanwhile, the group's first record company Philips Records/Phonogram Records and its sister label (Mercury Records) decided to repackage Luv's old repertoire. That's why a "Greatest Hits" album came out, including successful hit singles, album songs and a bonus track: Luv' Hitpack, a megamix conceived by the Dutch DJ-remixer-producer Peter Slaghuis. Luv' were a Dutch girl group that scored a string of hit records in Continental Europe (Benelux, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, Denmark, Norway and Finland) as well as Israel, South Africa, Rhodesia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Argentina and Mexico in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The original members were Patty Brard, José Hoebee and Marga Scheide. In 1979, Luv' was 'Holland's best export act' and thus received the ' Conamus Export Prize'. The band sold more than seven million records worldwide (singles and albums). Among their greatest hits were: " U.O.Me (Welcome to Waldolala)", "You're the Greatest Lover", "Trojan Horse", "Casanova" and "Ooh, Yes I Do". The formation went through line-up changes and the original singers reunited several times. They gave a farewell performance on 11 August 2012 in Spaarnwoude at the Dutch Valley Festival. Dureco is a Dutch independent record label based in the Netherlands. Over the years many artists and groups such as the Amboina Serenaders, Judy Cheeks, Jules de Corte, De Dijk, Jef Elbers, Gotcha!, Samantha Jones, Ming Luhulima, the Mena Moeria Minstrels, Liz Mitchell, Julian Sas, Luv', Roger Peterson and Rene van Helsdingen have had their work released through Dureco. Background It was founded in 1952 as the Dutch division of the Pelgrims Group. It also had divisions in Belgium and France. By the early 1970s, it was selling 36 million records a year. Through its Sofrason company in France it was selling 22 million records and through Fonior in Belgium, it was selling 8 million. By 1972, it had its own 24-track studio. Boney M. was a German- Caribbean vocal group that specialized in disco and funk created by German record producer Frank Farian, who was the group's primary songwriter. Originally based in West Germany, the four original members of the group's official line-up were Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett from Jamaica, Maizie Williams from Montserrat, and Bobby Farrell from Aruba. Mel and Kim (stylized as MӗL & KIM) were an English pop duo, consisting of sisters Melanie and Kim Appleby. Originally managed by Alan Whitehead, they achieved success between 1986 and 1988, before Melanie died of cancer in January 1990 at the age of 23. The duo reached number one in the UK Singles Chart with their 1987 single " Respectable", which also topped the US dance chart. Technotronic was a Belgian electronic music project formed in 1987 by Jo Bogaert, who originally gained popularity in Europe as a solo artist with various new beat projects, including Acts of Madmen and Nux Nemo. Together with rapper Manuela Kamosi, he produced the single " Pump Up the Jam", which was originally an instrumental released under the name The Pro 24s.
