Lumpkins Stadium
Lumpkins Stadium is a stadium in Waxahachie, Texas. It is primarily used for American football, and is the home field of the Waxahachie Indians. The stadium is named for Stuart B. Lumpkins, a former superintendent of Waxahachie Independent School District. In 2011, the stadium received renovations that were funded through a city bond. In addition to serving as the home field for the Waxahachie Indians football team, Lumpkins also hosts Waxahachie Indian soccer and an annual track and field meet. The stadium has also been used as a neutral site for University Interscholastic League playoff games in both football and soccer. Waxahachie ( ) is a city in and the county seat of Ellis County, Texas, United States. Its population was 41,140 in 2020. The city was founded in 1850, and incorporated in 1871. Much of the employment is provided by a number of industries and by educational institutions, including primary and secondary schools, a community college and a private university. In the mid-1980s, the city became a filming location for a number of movies and occasional episodes of television series. Etymology Some sources state that the name means "cow" or "buffalo" in an unspecified Native Americans in the United States, Native American language. The Waxahachie Independent School District is a public school district located in Waxahachie, Texas, a suburban community serving as the county seat for Ellis County, which adjoins Dallas County to the north.
