Lumpinee Stadium
Lumpinee Boxing Stadium () is a sporting arena in Bangkok, Thailand. Opened more than a decade later than Rajadamnern Stadium, Lumpinee is run by the Royal Thai Army. It has become the symbol of modern Muay Thai. Only Rajadamnern Stadium rivals the prestige of holding the title of "Muay Thai Champion of Lumpinee". The ranking system and championship titles are held from mini flyweight (105 lb) up to super welterweight (154 lb). Muay Thai bouts are held on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The fights usually start around 18:00. The final event at its original site on Rama IV Road near Lumphini Park (where One Bangkok is currently being built) was held on 8 February 2014. The stadium then moved to its new home on Ram Inthra Road which can hold up to 5,000 spectators. Rama IV Road (, ; usually shortened to , ) is a main road in Bangkok, Thailand. Praphas Charusathien
Praphas Charusathien (, , ; 25 November 1912 – 18 August 1997) was a Thai military officer and politician. He was a Field Marshal (Thailand), field marshal of the Royal Thai Army and minister of interior in the governments of military rulers Sarit Thanarat and Thanom Kittikachorn. Personal life and education Praphas graduated from the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy and became an infantry officer. He was sponsored by Field Marshal and Prime Minister-to-be Sarit Thanarat. He was quickly promoted to higher ranks. In 1957, Sarit appointed him minister of interior, a position in which he continued to serve after Sarit's death in 1963. The new prime minister was Thanom Kittikachorn, whose son married Praphas' daughter. Vichean Bootdee (; born: August 10, 1962), known professionally as Chamuekpet Hapalang (), is a Thai former professional Muay Thai fighter and boxer. He is a former four-time Lumpinee Stadium champion and five-time Rajadamnern Stadium champion across seven divisions, as well as the 1985 Sports Writers Association of Thailand Fighter of the Year, who famous during the 1980s and 1990s. He fought in Bangkok in the late 1970s to the 1990s, and later on fought in Japan where he would also become a well-known Muay Thai trainer. During the 1970s to 1980s, he was a southpaw ''Muay Bouk'' and ''Muay Khao'' hybrid fighter which meant that he was a well-rounded pressure fighter with knee fighting expertise. Samart Popteeratham (, born ''Samart Thipthamai'', ; December 5, 1962), known professionally as Samart Payakaroon (), is a Thai former professional Muay Thai fighter, professional boxer, and entertainer. He is a former four-division Lumpinee Stadium champion and WBC World Super Bantamweight Champion, as well as the 1981 and 1988 Sports Writers Association of Thailand Fighter of the Year, who was famous in the 1980s and 1990s. He has also released several successful albums in Thailand and appeared in multiple films and tv shows. Nowadays he works as a Muay Thai trainer at his own gym in Bangkok. Subin Dejtiptamai (; born Chartchai Tiptamai ; July 12, 1960), known professionally as Kongtoranee Payakaroon (), is a retired Thai Muay Thai fighter and professional boxer. He is a former five-division Lumpinee Stadium champion, the 1984 Sports Writers Association of Thailand Fighter of the Year, and also challenged for a WBC and a WBA Super Flyweight title in boxing. He is also the older brother of Samart Payakaroon, another famous fighter. Muay Thai career Payakaroon (personal nickname: Chart; ชาติ) started his career from Muay Thai at the age of 11 before the brother, Samart. Chucheep Iam-erb (; January 25, 1948 – January 31, 2022), known professionally as Wichannoi Porntawee () was a Thai professional Muay Thai fighter. After becoming a dominant figure in the 112 lbs to 130 lbs (50.80 - 58.97 kg) weight classes, he ran out of opponents and had to fight up to 20 lbs (9.07 kg) above his weight division to receive more matchups and was still successful.
