Luke Rowe (other)
Luke Rowe (born 10 March 1990) is a British former racing cyclist from Wales, who rode professionally for and its later iterations between 2012 and 2024. Largely deployed as a domestique during his professional career, Rowe took two wins – stage victories at the 2012 Tour of Britain and the 2017 Herald Sun Tour. Rowe represented Wales at the Commonwealth Games at four consecutive Games between 2010 Commonwealth Games, 2010 and 2022 Commonwealth Games, 2022, and was also a team member of five consecutive Tour de France victories by / riders between 2015 Tour de France, 2015 and 2019 Tour de France, 2019, which included him being the lanterne rouge of the 2017 Tour de France. 2023 UCI Road World Championships
The 2023 UCI Road World Championships were the 96th edition of the UCI Road World Championships, the annual world championships for road bicycle racing. There were held between 5 and 13 August 2023 in Scotland, as part of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, inaugural UCI Cycling World Championships. A total of thirteen events were held, consisting of six road races (all finishing in Glasgow city centre), six individual time trials (starting and finishing in Stirling) and a team time trial mixed relay (also held in Glasgow). The 2015 Tour de France was the 102nd edition of the Tour de France, one of cycling's Grand Tours. The -long race consisted of 21 stages, starting on 4 July in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and concluding on 26 July with the Champs-Élysées stage in Paris. Maindy Centre (, formerly known as Maindy Stadium, now also known as Maindy Pool and Cycle Track) is a velodrome and indoor swimming pool facility in the Maindy area of Cardiff, Wales. The velodrome was used in the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games and the swimming pool was opened in 1993. Maindy Stadium opened in 1951. A ''directeur sportif'' (, ) is a person directing a cycling team during a road bicycle racing event. It is seen as the equivalent to a field manager in baseball, or a head coach in football. At professional level, a directeur sportif follows the team in a car and communicates with riders, personnel and race officials by radio. The directeur sportif warns of obstacles or challenging terrain, updates the team on the situation in the race, and provides mechanical help. The car carrying the directeur sportif also usually carries a bicycle mechanic with spare bikes, wheels and parts. It also carries spare water bottles, food and medical equipment. Since the late 1990s, the role has increased, in keeping with better team cohesion, tactics and communication and telemetry equipment.
