Lui Che Woo, Grand Bauhinia Medal, GBM, Gold Bauhinia Star, GBS, Member of the Order of the British Empire, MBE, Justice of the Peace, JP (; 9 August 1929 – 7 November 2024) was a Hong Kong business magnate, investor and philanthropist. He founded K. Wah Company in 1955, which later became a multinational conglomerate, K. Wah Group. The group has two listed flagships, K. Wah International, K. Wah International Holdings Limited and Galaxy Entertainment Group Limited, as well as major companies such as K. Wah Construction Materials Limited and Stanford Hotels International, and over 200 subsidiaries around the world. K. Wah Group is engaged in various businesses including properties, entertainment and leisure, hospitality and construction materials across Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia and major cities in the world. Lü (surname)
Lü () is the pinyin (Lǚ with the Tone (linguistics), tone diacritic) and Wade–Giles romanisation of a Chinese surname, most commonly (Simplified Chinese characters, simplified Chinese) and (Traditional Chinese characters, traditional Chinese). Romanization Lü is the standard pinyin spelling of the Chinese character 吕/呂. However, when input of the Umlaut (diacritic), umlaut is not possible, the surname is commonly romanized as Lu or Lv (v being the pinyin input shorthand for ü). Grand Bauhinia Medal
The Grand Bauhinia Medal () is the highest award under the Decorations and medals of Hong Kong, Hong Kong honours and awards system; it is to recognise the selected person's lifelong and highly significant contribution to the well-being of Hong Kong. The awardee is entitled to the postnominal letters GBM and the style The Honourable#Hong Kong, The Honourable. The award was created in 1997 to replace the British honours system, following the transfer of sovereignty to the People's Republic of China and the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
