Ludger
Ludger (; also Lüdiger or Liudger) ( – 26 March 809) was a missionary among the Frisians and Saxons, founder of Werden Abbey and the first Bishop of Münster in Westphalia. He has been called the "Apostle of Saxony". Early life to ordination Ludger's parents, Thiadgrim and Liafburg, were wealthy Christian Frisians of noble descent. In 753 Ludger saw the great Apostle of Germany, Boniface, which, together with the subsequent martyrdom of the saint, made a deep impression on him. At his own request he was sent to the Utrecht Cathedral School (''Martinsstift''), founded by Gregory of Utrecht in 756 or 757, and made good progress. In 767 Gregory, who did not wish to receive episcopal consecration himself, sent Alubert, who had come from England to assist him in his missionary work, to York to be consecrated bishop. Ludger Kühnhardt, born 4 June 1958 in Münster is a German political scientist, journalist and political advisor. From 1991 until 1997, he was Professor of Political Science at the University of Freiburg. From 1997 until his retirement in July 2024, he was Director at the Center for European Integration Studies (ZEI) and Professor at the Institute for Political Science and Sociology at the University of Bonn. Biography Ludger Kühnhardt was born as the eldest of four children of the ophthalmologist Gerhard Kühnhardt and the kindergarten teacher Irmgard Kühnhardt, née Hoffmann. After graduating from the Goethe-Gymnasium in Ibbenbüren, Kühnhardt completed editorial training at the German Journalism School in Munich in 1977/78. Ludger Sylbaris (1 June 1874 Morgan, Peter. Fire Mountain, , Bloomsbury. New York, NY: 2003. 42-43. – 1929, aged 55), also known as Louis-Auguste Cyparis, was a Martiniquais sailor who became known as one of three known survivors of the 1902 eruption of Mount Pelée on Martinique. The event killed an estimated 30,000 people in Saint Pierre, known as the "Paris of the West Indies", located at the base of the volcano, when a pyroclastic flow engulfed the city, completely destroying it. Sylbaris was shielded from the immediate blast and its effects, including heat, debris, volcanic gas and ash, in an isolated outdoor jail cell. Four days after the eruption, a rescue team heard Sylbaris' cries from the rubble of the prison. Although badly burned, he survived and was able to provide an account of the event. Ludger Lohmann (born 1954 in Herne) is a highly acknowledged organist. Lohmann studied school and church music, musicology, philosophy and geography in Cologne. He studied organ with Wolfgang Stockmeier and harpsichord with Hugo Ruf. He took private lessons with Anton Heiller in Vienna and Marie-Claire Alain in Paris. From 1979 to 1984, Lohmann taught organ at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. Ludger Lemieux (February 9, 1872 – October 27, 1953) was a Quebec architect who designed a number of notable Art deco structures in Montreal's Saint-Henri district. While he often worked in partnership with Joseph-Honoré MacDuff, his best-known structure, the Atwater Market, was designed not with MacDuff but with his son Paul M. Lemieux. He was born in Farnham, Quebec to parents Moïse Lemieux and Marie Melanie Serre. He studied at McGill University before his architectural practice after 1897. He was married to Marie Louise Pare and had six children including Paul Marie Lemieux. He worked with Macduff from 1897 to 1918, then on his own until 1931 when his son Paul M.
