Earl Belmore
Earl Belmore is a title in the Peerage of Ireland that was created in 1797 for Armar Lowry-Corry, 1st Earl Belmore, Armar Lowry-Corry, 1st Viscount Belmore, who had previously represented County Tyrone in the Irish House of Commons. He had already been created Baron Belmore, of Castle Coole in County Fermanagh (now in Northern Ireland), in 1781 and Viscount Belmore in 1789, also in the Peerage of Ireland. Born Armar Lowry, he was the son of Galbraith Lowry, Member of the Irish House of Commons for County Tyrone, and his wife Sarah, daughter of Colonel John Corry. In 1774, he assumed by Royal licence the additional surname of Corry. He was succeeded by his eldest son, the second Earl. Ray Lowry (28 August 1944 – 14 October 2008) was an English cartoonist, illustrator and satirist, possessing a highly distinctive style and wit. He contributed to ''The Guardian'', ''Private Eye'', '' Punch'', ''Tatler'' and ''NME'', among many other publications. In his later years he lived in Rossendale, Lancashire. Life and work Lowry was born the son of a bricklayer in Cadishead, Salford, and attended Urmston Grammar School. He worked in Manchester and London, and, although he had no formal art education, he became known as a cartoonist during the 1970s. Noah Ryan Lowry (born October 10, 1980) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Francisco Giants from 2003 to 2007. College and the MLB Draft Lowry was first drafted out of Nordhoff High School, in Ojai, California, by the Texas Rangers in the nineteenth round of the 1999 MLB Draft, but instead opted to attend Pepperdine University. At Pepperdine, Lowry went 14-2 with a 1.71 ERA as a junior. In 2001, the San Francisco Giants drafted Lowry with the 30th and last pick of the first round in the 2001 MLB Draft. His political career ended when his deputy press secretary, Susanne Albright, made accusations of sexual misconduct against him.
