Low-floor Tram
A low-floor tram is a tram that has no steps between one or more entrances and part or all of the passenger cabin. The low-floor design improves the accessibility of the tram for the public, and also may provide larger windows and more airspace. A low-floor tram allows accessible level access from curb (road), curb level platforms. Level access can also be achieved either by using a high-floor vehicle serving high-platform stops. Currently both types are in use, depending on the station platform infrastructure in existing rail systems. Some systems may make use of former railway alignments where use of existing high platforms is desirable, while others, particularly new systems, may not have the space to site high-level platforms in urban centres. A bogie ( ) (or truck in North American English) comprises two or more Wheelset (rail transport), wheelsets (two Railroad wheel, wheels on an axle), in a frame, attached under a vehicle by a pivot. Bogies take various forms in various modes of transport. A bogie may remain normally attached (as on many railroad cars and semi-trailers) or be quickly detachable (as for a dolly (trailer), dolly in a road train or in railway bogie exchange). Trams In Minsk
The Minsk tram () network is organised into 10 routes, integrated with the city's trolleybus, Metro and bus services. It uses a Russian broad gauge, which remains the standard in the former soviet union. Trams, initially using horse traction, have been operating in Minsk, the Belarusian capital, since 1892. At that time the entire territory was part of the Russian Empire. Services were interrupted for a few years following the 1917 Russian Revolution and again during the Second World War. Minsk used horse trams for longer than many other cities, but a programme of tram electrification took place during the 1920s. A hobble skirt was a skirt with a narrow enough hem to significantly impede the wearer's Gait (human), stride. It was called a "hobble skirt" because it seemed to hobble the woman as she walked. Hobble skirts were a short-lived fashion trend that peaked between 1908 and 1914.
