Louise Vet
Louise Elisabeth Maria Vet (born in Haarlem on 9 January 1954) is a Dutch biologist and emeritus professor of ecology at Wageningen University. In addition to her scientific career, she focuses on increasing environmental awareness among the general public and promoting environmentally friendly initiatives. Life and work Vet studied biology in Leiden, did research in Meijendel and completed her study in 1978. She then conducted research at the University of California and Leiden University, where she obtained her PhD in 1984 with her thesis ''Comparative ecology of hymenopterous parasitoids'' on the ecology and behavior of hymenopteran insects. In 1997 she became a professor at Wageningen University and Research and in 1999 was named director of the Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW), one of the largest institutes of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. Leiden (; in English and archaic Dutch also Leyden) is a city and municipality in the province of South Holland, Netherlands. The municipality of Leiden has a population of 119,713, but the city forms one densely connected agglomeration with its suburbs Oegstgeest, Leiderdorp, Voorschoten and Zoeterwoude with 206,647 inhabitants. The Rank Prizes comprise the Rank Prize for Optoelectronics and the Rank Prize for Nutrition. The prizes recognise, reward and encourage researchers working in the respective fields of optoelectronics and nutrition. The prizes are funded by the charity The Rank Prize Funds, which were endowed by the industrialist, philanthropist and founder of the Rank Organisation, J. Arthur Rank and his wife Nell, via the Rank Foundation on 16 February 1972, not long before Arthur's death. Marcel Dicke
Marcel Dicke (born November 28, 1957, in Dordrecht, Netherlands) is a Dutch professor of entomology who has been affiliated with Wageningen University since 2002. He conducts research on insects and has published in the scientific journals ''Science'' and ''Nature''. Dicke received the Spinoza Prize in 2007 for his research on the interactions between plants and insects. Career Dicke studied biology at Leiden University, where he graduated ''cum laude'' in 1982. ''Trouw'' (; ) is a Dutch daily newspaper appearing in compact size. It was founded in 1943 as an orthodox Protestant underground newspaper during World War II. Since 2009, it has been owned by DPG Media (known as De Persgroep until 2019). ''Trouw'' received the European Newspaper Award in 2012. Cees van der Laan is the current editor-in-chief. History ''Trouw'' is a Dutch word meaning "fidelity", "loyalty", or "allegiance", and is cognate with the English adjective "true".
