	Louis Boyer (astronomer) Louis Boyer (1901–1999) was a French astronomer who worked at the Algiers Observatory, North Africa, where he discovered 40 asteroids between 1930 and 1952. In the 1950s and 1960s. he worked on identifications of small Solar System bodies at Nice Observatory in southeastern France. The asteroid 1215 Boyer, discovered by his colleague Alfred Schmitt at Algiers in 1932, was named after him. In turn Boyer named the 1617 Alschmitt asteroid in honor of Schmitt. Boyer also named 1713 Bancilhon after Odette Bancilhon his colleague and wife of astronomer Alfred Schmitt. 	Louis-Alphonse Boyer Louis-Alphonse Boyer (May 31, 1839 – May 29, 1916) was a Quebec merchant and political figure. He represented Maskinongé in the House of Commons of Canada as a Liberal member from 1872 to 1878. He was born in Montreal, the son of Louis Boyer and Aurélie Mignault, and was educated at the Chambly and Jesuit Colleges. Boyer was the head of a lumber firm and a director of the Royal Canadian Insurance Company and of La Banque Ville Marie. He also served as mayor of St-Lambert. In 1865, he married Alphonsine Meilleur, the daughter of Jean-Baptiste Meilleur. Boyer ran unsuccessfully in the federal riding of Jacques Cartier in 1904. Boyer operated a model farm in St-Lambert. He was flour inspector for Montreal from 1878 to 1888. His brother Arthur Arthur is a masculine given name of uncertain etymology. 	Louis Boyer (merchant) Louis Boyer (November 30, 1795 – December 21, 1870) was a mason, merchant and land owner in Quebec. He also signed his surname as Boyer, dit Quintal. Boyer Street () in Montreal is named after him. Early years He was born in Montreal, the son of François Boyer and Josette Boutonne. Career He was employed in the construction of the Rideau Canal and the prison at Kingston. Later, Boyer became a merchant dealing in pork, beef, butter and cheese. In 1832 he formed a partnership dealing in bacon, furs and other goods with Joseph Vallée, Fleury-Théodore Serre dit Saint-Jean and Philippe Turcot Sr. He also dealt in real estate and, by the time of his death, he had become one of the largest property owners in Montreal. He also was a director of the Montreal City and District Savings Bank and the Banque Jacques Cartier, as well as a member of the Montreal Board of Trade.
