Lorne Campbell (ice Hockey)
Lorne Douglas Campbell (October 8, 1879 – May 6, 1957) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 140 games in various professional leagues, including the Western Pennsylvania Hockey League (WPHL) and International Professional Hockey League (IPHL). Playing career Lorne Campbell first played senior hockey for the Montreal Hockey Club in his hometown of Montreal. He played for the organization's second team before joining the main squad for the 1900–01 season. He then turned professional in the Western Pennsylvania Hockey League (WPHL) with the Pittsburgh Bankers in the 1901–02 season. He played three seasons with the Bankers before joining the Pittsburgh Pros team in the IPHL, which was a merged team of the best WPHL players. Campbell played three seasons in the IPHL, also spending short stints with the Portage Lakes Hockey Club and the Calumet Miners. Lorne Campbell (art Historian)
Ian Lorne Campbell (born 1946) is a Scottish art historian and curator. Campbell was Beaumont Senior Research Curator at the National Gallery, London from 1996 to 2012, and from 1974 to 1996 lectured on the Northern Renaissance at the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London. He has curated major exhibitions at the National Gallery and other museums, including ones on Rogier van der Weyden at Leuven in 2009 and the Prado in 2015. Biography Campbell was born in Stirling in 1946. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Edinburgh and Ph.D from University of London in 1973. Between 1970 and 1971 he taught at the University of Manchester and later at the University of Cambridge. In 2016, KU Leuven awarded him an honorary doctorate of the Faculty of Arts. Lorne Argyle Campbell (March 5, 1871 – April 9, 1947https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/108388103/lorne-argyll-campbell) was a businessman and political figure in British Columbia. He represented Rossland City from 1912 to 1916 in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia as a Conservative. Biography He was born in Perth, Ontario, the son of John G. Campbell and Helen Gray Murdoch, and was educated at Perth Collegiate. He was first employed with Edison General Electric in Toronto in 1889. In 1891, he was hired by Canadian General Electric; he became chief engineer for the company in 1896. In 1898, he went to British Columbia after being hired by West Kootenay Power and Light Co. In 1903, Campbell married Mary Spahr Hosier. He was president of Cascade Power and Light Co. and of McGillivray Creek Coal & Coke Ltd. of Alberta. Brigadier Lorne MacLaine Campbell, (22 July 1902 – 25 May 1991) was a British Army officer and a Scottish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Early life Lorne MacLaine Campbell was born on 22 July 1902 in Airds, Argyll, Scotland, the eldest of three sons of Colonel Ian Maxwell Campbell and Hilda Mary Wade. He was schooled at the Dulwich College Preparatory School, and then at Dulwich College in South London between 1915 and 1921 (as was his uncle and fellow recipient of the Victoria Cross, Vice Admiral Gordon Campbell). Lorne Edgar Campbell (born 2 September 1948) is a Canadian former outlaw biker and gangster. One of the earliest members of the Satan's Choice Motorcycle Club, which he joined in 1965, Campbell remained a life-long member of the club, staying on until Satan's Choice joined the Hells Angels in 2000. Campbell served as the president of Satan's Choice Oshawa chapter from 1985 to 1997, and of the Hells Angels' Sudbury chapter from 2001 to 2006, amassing a number of convictions. Campbell is one of the leading figures associated with the highly controversial "Port Hope 8" case, where he testified that he killed William "Heavy" Matiyek on the night of 18 October 1978 in Port Hope, a crime that six other men were convicted of. Dr John Lorne Campbell FRSE LLD OBE ( gd, Iain Latharna Caimbeul) (1906–1996) was a Scottish historian, farmer, environmentalist and folklorist, and recognized scholar of Scottish Gaelic literature. Early life According to his biographer, Ray Perman, the family of John Lorne Campbell claimed descent from the Clan Campbell tacksmen of Craignish ( gd, Mac Dúbhghaill Creaginnis, Clan Tearlach), through a son of disinherited 16th-century heir Tearlach Mòr. According to Penman, however, there is no documentary proof that the son of Tearlach Mòr ever existed. The family is known, however, to have risen from modest beginnings due to the successful military career of General Sir Archibald Campbell during both the Seven Years' War and the American War of Independence, from whom the family estate at Inverneill had been inherited.
