John Campbell, 9th Duke Of Argyll
John George Edward Henry Douglas Sutherland Campbell, 9th Duke of Argyll (6 August 1845 – 2 May 1914), known by the Courtesy titles in the United Kingdom, courtesy title Marquess of Lorne, by which he was known between 1847 and 1900, was a British nobleman who was Governor General of Canada from 1878 to 1883. He was the husband of Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll, Princess Louise, fourth daughter of Queen Victoria. Lorne Elias
Lorne Elias is a Canadian chemist, inventor, and a pioneer in explosives detection technology. He invented the explosives vapour detector, EVD-1, a portable bomb detection instrument deployed at international airports in Canada in the 1980s. He contributed to the field of explosives detection for over three decades, and is called the father of vapour and trace explosives detection technology. Education Lorne Elias obtained a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Carleton University in 1952. He received a PhD in physical chemistry under the direction of H. Lorne Loomer
Lorne Kenneth Loomer (March 11, 1937 – January 1, 2017) was a Canadian competition rower and Olympic champion. He received a gold medal in ''coxless fours'' at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, together with Archibald MacKinnon, Walter D'Hondt and Donald Arnold. At the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, Loomer received a gold medal in ''eights''. Awards Loomer was inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 1958. He was inducted into ''British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame'' in 1966, and into ''University of British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame'' in 1993, together with the other members of the Olympic gold team. Lorne Lofsky (born May 10, 1954) is a Canadian jazz guitarist. Considered a virtuoso guitarist, Lofsky is known for his collaborations with Oscar Peterson, Ed Bickert, and Kirk MacDonald. Early life and education Lofsky was born in Toronto in 1954. He began playing rock music at school dances but later took an interest in jazz after hearing the album '' Kind of Blue'' by Miles Davis. In the 1970s, he attended York University and studied music while working at clubs in Toronto. Lorne Kusugak is a Canadian politician who is the member of the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut for the electoral district of Rankin Inlet South. Prior to becoming an MLA, Kusugak was the mayor of Rankin Inlet. Lorne Henning (born February 22, 1952) is a Canadian professional ice hockey executive and former player. He most recently has served as a scout for the Seattle Kraken of the National Hockey League (NHL). Career Born in Melfort, Saskatchewan, Henning spent nine years as a forward with the New York Islanders, with whom he earned an assist on the May 24, 1980 goal by Bobby Nystrom that earned the Islanders their first of four consecutive Stanley Cups. In the summer of 1980 he became an assistant coach with Islanders. He also played nine regular season games, and one playoff game, becoming the last player-coach for a Stanley Cup-winning team. Henning retired for good as a player after the 1980–81 season but retained his assistant coaching position. He left the Islanders to become the head coach of the Minnesota North Stars in 1985–86. Lorne Henderson (October 31, 1920 – February 7, 2002) was a politician in Ontario, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1963 to 1985, and was a cabinet minister in the government of William Davis. Henderson was a member of the Progressive Conservative Party. Lorne Everett Greenaway (8 May 1933 – 13 September 2010) was a Progressive Conservative party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was a rancher and veterinarian by career. Greenaway was born in Bella Coola, British Columbia in 1933. In 1952, he graduated from Kelowna Senior Secondary School and went on to attend Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario, where he graduated at the top of his class and served as class president. ''Pink Lady'' is an American variety show that aired for five weeks on NBC in 1980, starring the Japanese musical duo of the same name. The show is also referred to by the title ''Pink Lady and Jeff'', referring to co-star Jeff Altman.
