''Look to the East, Look to the West'' is the sixth studio album by the Scottish indie pop band Camera Obscura, released on 3 May 2024 via Merge Records. It is their first album in 11 years and the first since the death of keyboardist and backing vocalist Carey Lander in 2015; Donna Maciocia (formerly a member of Amplifico), who joined the band as a permanent member in 2023, fills out her role. The album is produced by Jari Haapalainen, who previously worked on ''Let's Get Out of This Country'' (2006) and ''My Maudlin Career'' (2009). Background Camera Obscura had not played together since Carey Lander died from cancer in 2015. In 2019, the band played a concert as a part of Belle and Sebastian's ''Boaty Weekender'' cruise. Camera Obscura are a Scottish indie pop band from Glasgow. The group formed in 1996, and have released six studio albums to date. Led by primary singer and songwriter Tracyanne Campbell, the band consists of guitarist/vocalist Kenny McKeeve, bassist Gavin Dunbar, and drummer Lee Thomson. Following the death of long-serving keyboardist Carey Lander, the band went on hiatus from 2015 to 2018. Stephen M. Deusner is an American music critic and part-time record store clerk who lives in Bloomington, Indiana. Paul Savage (musician)
Paul Savage (born January 1971) is a Scottish musician and record producer, best known for being the drummer in the Scottish indie rock group The Delgados. Early life Savage was born in Glasgow in January 1971. As a child, he grew up in the United States before returning to Scotland in 1983. Career The Delgados At school in Motherwell he met Alun Woodward and Stewart Henderson. Early bands including these three were Megan's Frame and Bubblegum. When they were forced out of Bubblegum, they formed their own band with Paul's girlfriend, Emma Pollock, and called themselves The Delgados. Tracyanne Campbell (born 18 May 1974) is a Scottish singer and musician who is the lead vocalist of the Glasgow-based indie pop band Camera Obscura. Born in Glasgow, Campbell founded Camera Obscura alongside John Henderson and Gavin Dunbar in 1996. Weighted Arithmetic Mean
The weighted arithmetic mean is similar to an ordinary arithmetic mean (the most common type of average), except that instead of each of the data points contributing equally to the final average, some data points contribute more than others.
