The Long Beach State men's volleyball team is the NCAA Division I men's volleyball team for Long Beach State University. Alan Knipe has been the head coach since 2001, except for three years coaching the United States men's national volleyball team. Alan Knipe
Alan Knipe (born January 1, 1969) is the head coach of the Long Beach State men's volleyball team. As a player at CSULB, he helped the team reach back-to-back NCAA Men's Volleyball Championships in 1990 and 1991, winning the Championship in 1991. As a head coach, he has guided them to nine NCAA Semifinal appearances (2004, 2008, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024) and two National Championships (2018, 2019). As a player, assistant coach and head coach, Knipe has helped the Long Beach State team to 12 of the program's 14 NCAA Semifinal appearances. Playing career Knipe played on the Long Beach State men's volleyball team from 1990 to 1992. In 1991, he was named to the All-American second team and helped The Beach win the NCAA Championship. In 1992, he was named to the All-America first team. Knipe then played for the U.S. national team in 1992 and 1993. Knipe played professionally in Italy and Belgium. The 2019 NCAA Men's National Collegiate Volleyball Tournament was the 50th annual tournament to determine the national champion of NCAA Division I and Division II men's collegiate indoor volleyball. NCAA Men's Volleyball Tournament
The NCAA men's volleyball tournament, officially titled the NCAA national collegiate men's volleyball championship, is an annual competition that determines the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championship in American college men's volleyball. It had been the only NCAA championship in the sport from 1970 until 2012, when the NCAA launched a NCAA Division III men's volleyball tournament, Division III championship. Unlike most NCAA sports, men's volleyball uses a modified version of the National Collegiate championship format, which means NCAA Division I, Division I and NCAA Division II, Division II teams compete against each other in the same tournament. The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) is a college athletic conference with members located mostly in the Western United States, although it has added members as far east as Massachusetts. The conference participates at the NCAA Division I level, primarily in Olympic sports that are not sponsored by a school's primary conference (such as the Pac-12 and Big West, many of whose members participate in MPSF competition in at least one of its sports). Scott Touzinsky
Scott Joseph Touzinsky (born April 22, 1982) is an American volleyball player and coach. He was a member of the U.S. national team 2007–2018. With the national team, Touzinsky played in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and won a gold medal. Personal life Touzinsky was born in St. Louis to Charles and Anne Touzinsky, who are of Polish origin. He attended St. John Vianney High School in Kirkwood, Missouri, where he graduated in 2000. In 2006, Touzinsky married Angelique Vogel, a promotional spokesmodel. College career Touzinsky attended Long Beach State and finished his career as the single-season ace leader. In 2004, his senior season, he was an AVCA First Team All-American and became the all-time ace leader for Long Beach State.
