Lonesomers
''Lonesomers'' is the second studio album released by American singer and actress Mare Winningham in 1997. Background Winningham has worked on a musical career at the same time as her better known work as an actress, fronting several folk-rock bands in the 1980s, doing live shows. It was not until 1992 that her first solo record got released on an independent small label based in the San Francisco Bay Area, which received a very limited release. With her Oscar-nominated role as a folk singer in the 1995 movie ''Georgia'', her vocal and musical skills got more noticed by the general public and she started work on her second album. ''Lonesomers'' is a folk rock album with songs mostly dealing with relationship issues. Winningham solely penned all the songs on the album except for a cover of The Rolling Stones' " The Last Time", as well as playing the guitar and dulcimer. Mary Megan Winningham, known professionally as Mare Winningham ( ; born May 16, 1959), is an American actress and singer-songwriter. She is the recipient of two Primetime Emmy Awards and has been nominated for an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and two Tony Awards. An eight-time Emmy Award nominee, she won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for ''Amber Waves'' in 1980 and ''George Wallace'' in 1998. "Someday Soon" is a song composed by Canadian singer-songwriter Ian Tyson who recorded the song with Sylvia Tyson, Sylvia Fricker as the duo Ian & Sylvia in 1963. Ian Dawson Tyson (25 September 1933 – 29 December 2022) was a Canadian singer-songwriter who wrote several folk songs, including " Four Strong Winds" and " Someday Soon", and performed with partner Sylvia Tyson as the duo Ian & Sylvia. Early life and education Ian Dawson Tyson was born on 25 September 1933, in Victoria, British Columbia to George and Margaret Tyson. His father George was an insurance salesman and polo enthusiast who emigrated from England in 1906. Growing up in Duncan, British Columbia, he learned to ride horses on his father's farm, and eventually became a rodeo rider in his late teens and early twenties.
