Lolita
''Lolita'' is a 1955 novel written by Russian-American novelist Vladimir Nabokov. The protagonist and narrator is a French literature professor who moves to New England and writes under the pseudonym Humbert Humbert. He details his obsession and victimization of a 12-year-old girl, Dolores Haze, whom he describes as a " nymphet". Humbert kidnaps and sexually abuses Dolores after becoming her stepfather. Privately, he calls her "Lolita", the Spanish diminutive for Dolores. The novel was written in English, but fear of censorship in the U.S. (where Nabokov lived) and Britain led to it being first published in Paris, France, in 1955 by Olympia Press. The book has received critical acclaim regardless of the controversy it caused with the public. It has been included in many lists of best books, such as ''Time'' List of the 100 Best Novels, ''Le Monde'' 100 Books of the Century, Bokklubben World Library, Modern Library's 100 Best Novels, and The Big Read. The novel has bee ...

Album information The album's first single, " Te Amo Corazón", was released in the United States on December 13, 2005; the second single, " Black Sweat", was released on February 2, 2006. Production history ''Lolita, My Love'' was initiated by Lerner, the well-known lyricist of ''My Fair Lady'' and other major hits, who recruited Barry to write the score. Nabokov, who had several times refused to allow adaptations of his novel, stated that "Mr. Lerner is a most talented and excellent classicist. If you have to make a musical version of ''Lolita'', he is the one to do it."Mandelbaum, Ken. ''Not Since Carrie.'' New York: St. Martin's Press, 1991 Like most musicals of the time, the production was scheduled for a multi-city "tryout" tour, during which rewrites could be done as needed, before opening on Broadway. The original director was opera impresario Tito Capobianco, and choreography was provided by Jack Cole, although Cole was fired during rehearsals and replaced b ...

Lolita (play)
''Lolita'' is a play adapted by Edward Albee from Vladimir Nabokov's 1955 Lolita, novel of the same name. The troubled production opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Broadway theatre, Broadway on March 19, 1981, after 31 previews and closed after only 12 performances. Albee later insisted, "My adaptation of Nabokov's ''Lolita'', of course, was never done on Broadway. Something called ''Lolita'' with my name attached to it was produced on Broadway, but it was not my adaptation of Nabokov's ''Lolita''. The one really truly ugly theater experience I have had in a long and reasonably happy career was the experience of losing control of the production of that play." The full text of Albee's adaptation of ''Lolita'', with copyright dates of 1979, 1980, and 1984, was published in the third volume of his collected plays. In his introduction he noted, "no one who saw the execrable production the play received on Broadway could penetrate through it to the homage I was paying Nabokov." ...
