Lola And Billy The Kid
''Lola and Billy the Kid'' () is a 1999 film scripted and directed by Kutluğ Ataman and produced in Germany. It has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 40%. Plot Seventeen-year-old Murat, from Turkey but living in Berlin, Germany with his mother and older brother Osman, seems to be struggling with his sexuality while Osman, head of the household since the father's death and a taxi driver, strongly urges Murat to lose his virginity to a woman. However, suspecting that Murat is gay and believing that his Turkish background makes him lesser of a person, some boys from Murat's school harass and beat him. Meanwhile, Lola, a Turkish male who dresses as a female, argues with his boyfriend, a “macho” Turkish male named Bilidikid (Billy), about returning to Turkey. Kutluğ Ataman
Kutluğ Ataman (born 1961 in Istanbul Turkey) is an acclaimed Turkish-American contemporary artist and feature filmmaker. Ataman's films are known for their strong characterization and humanity. His early art works examine the ways in which people and communities create and rewrite their identities through self-expression, blurring the line between reality and fiction. His later works focus on history and geography as man-made constructs. He won the Carnegie Prize for his work ''Kuba'' in 2004. In the same year he was nominated for Turner Prize for his work ''Twelve''. Biography Ataman was born in Istanbul in 1961; his father was a diplomat. As a young man, he was involved in filming the events of the 1980 Turkish coup d'état, which led to his imprisonment and torture. After his release, in 1981 he left Turkey and moved to California, remaining there for 15 years. Gandi Mukli
Gandi Mukli (born 1968, Munich, West Germany) is a German actor. Life The son of a Turk and a Syrian, Mukli grew up in Munich and lives in Cologne. His early roles were in small films such as, among other things, ''Ein Stückchen Himmel'' and '' Kir Royal''. After his debut cinematic appearance in the film ''Winterblume'' (1997), he played the leading role in the Kutluğ Ataman film '' Lola und Bilidikid'' in 1998. Films and TV roles were followed.
