Lohapur
Lohapur is a village in Nalhati II CD block in Rampurhat subdivision of Birbhum district in the Indian state of West Bengal. History Bhadrapur Bhadrapur is a village with Gram Panchayat. It has links with Maharaja Nandakumar, is about 4–5 miles from Lohapur railway station. Maharaja Nandakumar was born around 1705 at Bhadrapur. The ruins of the ''Raj bari'' can be seen there. Bhadrapur is culturally and educationally an enriched village in the Lohapur Block. Bhadrapur is also quite famous for its Durga Puja. Nalhati II
Nalhati II is a community development block that forms an administrative division in Rampurhat subdivision of Birbhum district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Overview Birbhum district is physiographically a part of the ancient Rarh region. The western portion of the district is basically an extension of the Chota Nagpur Plateau. The area has mostly loose reddish lateritic low fertility soil. In the east, the flood plains of the major rivers, such as the Ajay, Bakreshwar, Mayurakshi and Brahmani, have soft alluvial soil. The forest cover is only 3.5% of the total district. Although coal is found in the district and Bakreshwar Thermal Power Station has a capacity of 2,010 MW, the economic condition of Birbhum is dominated by agriculture. Maharaja Nandakumar
Maharaja Nandakumar (also known as Nuncomar) (1705 – died 5 August 1775), was an Indian tax collector for various regions in what is modern-day West Bengal. Nanda Kumar was born at Bhadrapur, which is now in Birbhum. He was the first Indian to be executed by hanging. Nandakumar was appointed by the East India Company to be the dewan (tax collector) for Burdwan, Nadia and Hoogly in 1764, following the removal of Warren Hastings from the post. In 1773, when Hastings was reinstated as governor-general of Bengal, Nandakumar brought accusations against him of accepting or giving bribes that were entertained by Sir Philip Francis and the other members of the Supreme Council of Bengal. However, Hastings overruled the council's charges. Thereafter, in 1775, he brought charges of document forgery against Nandakumar.
