Lobo Special Events Platform Station
The Lobo Special Events Platform is an inactive limited use platform on the New Mexico Rail Runner Express commuter rail line in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. MRCOG created the station in 2009 at a cost of $1 million (equivalent to $ million in ), split between MRCOG and the University of New Mexico. It was created as an incentive for residents of the region to use alternative transportation to attend University of New Mexico sports games as well as games of the Albuquerque Isotopes minor baseball team at Isotopes Park. The station was last used in 2009 and only ever opened during four sporting events, when it serviced a cumulative total of 227 passengers. Bus shuttles provided service from the platform to the stadiums. Each Rail Runner station contains an icon to express each community's identity. The New Mexico Rail Runner Express (Association of American Railroads, AAR reporting mark NMRX) is a commuter rail system serving the metropolitan areas of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico, Santa Fe, New Mexico. It is administered by the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and the Rio Metro Regional Transit District (Rio Metro), a regional transportation agency, while Herzog Transit Services currently holds the contract for the operation and maintenance of the line & equipment. Albuquerque Isotopes
The Albuquerque Isotopes are a Minor League Baseball team of the Pacific Coast League and the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. They play home games at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at an elevation of above sea level. In 2003, the Calgary Cannons moved from Alberta to Albuquerque and became the Isotopes playing in the Pacific Coast League. Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park, previously known only as Isotopes Park, is a minor league baseball stadium located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and is the home field of the Albuquerque Isotopes of the Pacific Coast League, the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies and New Mexico United, a professional soccer team in the USL Championship division that began play in 2019. The facility was also previously used by the University of New Mexico baseball program.
