Llandrindod Wells Transmitting Station
The Llandrindod Wells transmitting station is a broadcasting and telecommunications facility located on high ground about midway between Llandrindod Wells and Rhayader, in Powys, Wales. It was originally built by the BBC, entering service in 1961 transmitting the now-defunct 405-line VHF television system and the original three FM radio services. Currently, the transmitter provides DVB-T digital television to the area, along with FM radio and a single multiplex of DAB digital radio. Specifications and history Originally, the site had a guyed 65 m lattice mast erected on land that is itself about 440 m above sea level. Unusually for the era, when 405-line Independent Television came to the area in 1969, the ITV transmissions were hosted on the same mast as the BBC ones. Carmel Transmitting Station
The Carmel transmitting station, located half a mile (0.8km) SSW of the village of Carmel in Carmarthenshire, has been broadcasting terrestrial TV and radio services since the mid-1970s. The TV coverage area for the Carmel transmission station includes most of Carmarthenshire, the southern and eastern parts of Pembrokeshire; the southern fringes of Powys and Ceredigion; the northern part of Swansea. The Carmel signal is also receivable in parts of Neath Port Talbot, Bridgend and Rhondda Cynon Taff. Places as far away as Merthyr Tydfil and the north Devon coast are also able to receive signals from Carmel. Pen Y Fan
Pen y Fan () is the highest peak in South Wales, situated in Brecon Beacons National Park (Bannau Brycheiniog). At above sea-level, it is also the highest British peak south of Cadair Idris in Snowdonia. It is the highest point (List of counties of England and Wales in 1964 by highest point, county top) of the historic county of Brecknockshire (though in modern administrative terms, it now lies within the unitary council area of Powys). The twin summits of Pen y Fan and Corn Du at were formerly referred to as Cadair Arthur or 'Arthur's Seat'. Digital 3&4 is the operator of the PSB2 multiplex for digital terrestrial television in the United Kingdom. The company is equally owned by ITV Network Limited and Channel Four Television Corporation. It was established in 1996 to manage the multiplex that ITV and Channel 4 had been each gifted half of by the Independent Television Commission. Digital 3&4's PSB2 multiplex contains a number of channels and radio services. It must carry ITV (TV network), Channel 4 and, since 2009, Channel 5. Prior to 2010, 3% of the capacity was allocated to Teletext Ltd for interactive services. Sugar Loaf, Carmarthenshire
The Sugar Loaf is a prominent hill in Carmarthenshire, Wales, beside the A483 trunk road, some south-west of Llanwrtyd Wells.
