''Live in Rotterdam'' is a Roller Trio album recorded live at the 2014 EBU European Jazz Competition finals in Rotterdam. It was broadcast on Jazz on 3 (BBC Radio 3). One week before the performance, saxophonist James Mainwaring James Mainwaring is an English jazz composer, saxophonist and bandleader. Childhood and education Mainwaring was born in 1989 in Warrington where he grew up singing in rock bands and joined the Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra. In 2007 he moved ... broke a bone in his right hand, making the band unable to play their planned set. In one week they wrote a new half hour set of material for one handed sax. Roller Trio
Roller Trio are a British jazz-rock trio, who formed whilst studying at Leeds College of Music in 2011. In 2012, their eponymous debut studio album was nominated for the Mercury Prize alongside a nomination for the band as "Best Jazz Act" at the MOBO Awards that year. James Mainwaring
James Mainwaring is an English jazz composer, saxophonist and bandleader. Childhood and education Mainwaring was born in 1989 in Warrington where he grew up singing in rock bands and joined the Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra. In 2007 he moved to Leeds to study jazz at Leeds College of Music and completed an MA in composition from the University of York. Career In 2011 Mainwaring co-found Roller Trio who have released two albums, won the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award 2011 and in 2012 were chosen for BBC introducing, nominated for the Mercury Prize, MOBO best jazz act and best newcomer at the Jazz FM awards.
