''Live in London'' is an album by blues guitarist and singer Christone "Kingfish" Ingram. It documents a concert performed at the Garage in London on June 6, 2023. At this show Ingram was accompanied by Deshawn Alexander on keyboards, Paul Rogers on bass, and Christopher Black on drums. Ingram's first live album, and third album overall, it was released by Alligator Records for streaming and as a digital download on September 15, 2023, as a two-disc CD on October 13, 2023, and as a two-disc LP on November 10, 2023. ''Live in London'' was nominated for a Grammy award for Best Contemporary Blues Album. Critical reception On AllMusic, Thom Jurek said, "It's a beautifully recorded, incendiary gig captured in the moment.... Christone "Kingfish" Ingram (born January 19, 1999) is an American blues guitarist and singer from Clarksdale, Mississippi, United States, who became a well-known performer as a teenager. His debut album, '' Kingfish,'' was released in May 2019. In addition to his own albums, musicians he has recorded with include Eric Gales, Buddy Guy Ally Venable and Keb Mo. He has shared the stage with well-known blues artists and younger blues musicians such as the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Samantha Fish, Bob Margolin, Eric Gales, Mr. Sipp, Rick Derringer, Guitar Shorty and Buddy Guy. The Garage (London)
The Garage is a live music and club venue in Highbury, North London. It opened in 1993 and has a capacity of 600. The upstairs room, also known as the Grace, has a capacity of 150. The venue has hosted a number of underplays, with the Killers, Jack White, Mumford & Sons, Suede, Wolf Alice, Sugababes and The 1975 being among some of the most recent acts to play the venue. Other acts who have passed through the doors include Green Day, Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Paramore, Oasis, My Chemical Romance and the Creatures (Siouxsie Sioux's second band). The Garage was originally a Temperance Billiard Hall which quickly gained a reputation for serving great pies, as well as being a haunt for local villains in the sixties. Alligator Records
Alligator Records is an American, Chicago-based independent blues record label founded by Bruce Iglauer in 1971. Iglauer was also one of the founders of the '' Living Blues'' magazine in Chicago in 1970. History Iglauer started the label using his savings to record and produce his favorite band Hound Dog Taylor and the HouseRockers, whom his employer, Bob Koester of Delmark Records, declined to record. Nine months after the release of the first album, he stopped working at Delmark Records to concentrate fully on the band and his label. Only 1,000 copies of the Taylor's debut album were made, while Iglauer took over managing the group. Other early releases for the fledgling label included recordings by Big Walter Horton with Carey Bell and Fenton Robinson. The Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album was awarded from 1988 to 2011 and from 2017 onwards. Until 1992 the award was known as Best Contemporary Blues Performance and in 1989 was awarded to a song rather than to an album. The award was discontinued after the 2011 Grammy season in a major overhaul of Grammy categories. From 2012 onwards, the category was merged with the Best Traditional Blues Album category to form the new Best Blues Album category.
