Of Monsters And Men
Of Monsters and Men is an Icelandic indie folk/Folk rock, rock band formed in Garðabær in 2010. It consists of lead singer and guitarist Nanna BryndÃs Hilmarsdóttir, singer and guitarist Ragnar Þórhallsson, Ragnar "Raggi" Þórhallsson, lead guitarist Brynjar Leifsson, drummer Arnar Rósenkranz Hilmarsson, and bassist Kristján Páll Kristjánsson. The band won the MúsÃktilraunir in 2010, an annual Battle of the Bands in Iceland. In 2011, Of Monsters and Men released an EP titled ''Into the Woods (EP), Into the Woods''. Their 2011 debut album, ''My Head Is an Animal'', reached the No. 1 position in Australia, Iceland, and Ireland, as well as on the US rock and alternative charts, while peaking at No. 6 on the US Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200 album chart, No. 3 in the UK, and top 20 of most European and Canadian charts. 2012 MTV Video Music Awards
The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, hosted by Kevin Hart, took place on Thursday, September 6, 2012, honoring the best music videos from the previous year. The awards were broadcast from the Staples Center arena at L.A. Live in Downtown Los Angeles. Nominations were announced on July 31, 2012. Rihanna and Drake were the most nominated artists that year, with five nominations apiece, followed by Katy Perry and Beyoncé, who received four. One Direction was the biggest winner of the night winning their three nominations, including Best New Artist, and Rihanna went on to win Video of the Year. Both M.I.A. and Chris Brown won two awards each. The awards ceremony, with an average of 6.1 million viewers, was the least-watched VMA show since 2007. Viva (stylized VIVA, but not an acronym according to program director Dieter Gorny) was a German free-to-air Music television, music television channel, first broadcast on 1 December 1993. The channel was intended to compete against MTV Europe and was the sole German-language music TV channel after the closure of musicbox (German TV channel), musicbox in 1988, while MTV was only broadcast in English until the introduction of MTV (Germany), MTV Germany in 1997. It was also supposed to focus more on German music and pop culture while MTV only broadcast anglophone music by artists primarily from North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia. Ultratop is an organization which generates and publishes the official record charts in Belgium.
