Lower Peninsula
The Lower Peninsula of Michigan – also known as Lower Michigan – is the larger, southern and less elevated of the two major landmasses that make up the U.S. state of Michigan; the other being the Upper Peninsula, which is separated by the Straits of Mackinac. Sleepy Hollow State Park
Sleepy Hollow State Park is a public recreation area covering in the townships of Ovid and Victor in Clinton County, Michigan. The state park is located off US-127 nine miles southeast of St. Johns and four miles northwest of Laingsburg and centers on man-made, Lake Ovid. History The park was created through a series of land acquisitions in the late 1960s followed by the damming the Little Maple River to create Lake Ovid. The state opened the park in 1976. Lake Ovid
Lake Ovid is a reservoir located within Sleepy Hollow State Park, Michigan, created in the 1970s with the construction of a dam on the Little Maple River. With an average depth of , Lake Ovid is generally fairly shallow, with depths never exceeding . Many freshwater fish live in the lake including Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Bluegill, Rock Bass, Crappie, Channel Catfish, Muskellunge (Muskie), and Northern Pike. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has been monitoring the fish population annually and has determined that the smaller species of panfish have been reproducing prolifically and future stocking is going to focus on Muskellunge and Catfish.
