Lithuania At The 1992 Summer Olympics
Lithuania competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. It was the first Olympiad after the breakup of the Soviet Union. Lithuania was one of three ex-Soviet republics to compete individually, with Estonia and Latvia being the other two, instead of competing on the Unified Team. 47 competitors, 36 men and 11 women, took part in 31 events in 11 sports. The Lithuanian National Olympic Committee ( lt, Lietuvos tautinis olimpinis komitetas, ''LTOK'') is the National Olympic Committee representing Lithuania. History Lithuania's national Olympic committee was established and recognized in 1924. In the same year LTOK sent its first delegation to the 1924 Summer Olympics. During Soviet Union occupation time LTOK was disestablished. At 1988 movement for freedom times there was offered to restore national committee. Sergejus Jovaiša (born 17 December 1954 in Anykščiai) is a former basketball player from Soviet Union and Lithuania. He played at the shooting guard position and won the bronze medal with the Lithuania national basketball team at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. Cycling At The 1992 Summer Olympics The cycling competitions at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona consisted of two different categories: road cycling and track cycling, with ten events being contested. Arūnas Visockas (born 7 December 1965) is a retired Lithuanian basketball player for the Lithuanian national basketball team and Žalgiris Kaunas. He was a power forward 200 cm tall and weighed 108 kg. Visockas is currently the assistant coach of the Lithuanian basketball team BC Kaunas Triobet. Arvydas Sabonis
Arvydas Romas Sabonis (; born December 19, 1964) is a Lithuanian former professional basketball player and businessman. Recognized as one of the best European players of all time, he won the Euroscar six times and the Mr. Europa Award twice. He played in a variety of leagues, including the Spanish ACB League, and spent seven seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Playing the center position, Sabonis won a gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics, in South Korea, for the Soviet Union, and later earned bronze medals at the 1992 Olympic Games and 1996 Olympic Games representing Lithuania. He retired from professional basketball in 2005. Sabonis was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the 1986 NBA draft, but he did not play his first NBA game until 1995, at the age of 30. Alvydas Pazdrazdis (born 20 July 1972) is a Lithuanian former basketball player from Kretinga, Lithuania, who won the bronze medal with the Lithuania national basketball team at the 1992 Summer Olympics.
