''Sir'' is a formal honorific address in English for men, derived from Sire in the High Middle Ages. Both are derived from the old French "Sieur" (Lord), brought to England by the French-speaking Normans, and which now exist in French only as part of "Monsieur", with the equivalent "My Lord" in English. Lyster Hoxie Dewey
Lyster Hoxie Dewey (1865–1944) was an American botanist from Michigan. Lyster Dewey was born in Cambridge, Michigan on March 14, 1865. In 1888, he graduated from Michigan State Agricultural College where, for the next two years, he taught botany. Career Dewey was hired as an assistant botanist of the United States Department of Agriculture in 1890. He served in that role until 1903 when he became the botanist in charge of fiber investigations and fiber plants research at USDA's Arlington Experimental Farm. In 1911, he was the U.S. representative to the International Fibre Congress, held in Surabaya on Java island, in the Dutch East Indies (present day Indonesia). James & Lister Lea was an architectural and property consultancy firm active in England between 1846 and 2001. Established by brothers James Lea and Lister Lea, the partnership was initially focused only on architecture. Together, the brothers designed buildings across Birmingham, with a heavy focus on public houses, especially towards the end of the 19th century and early 20th century. Later in the firm's existence, it changed its name to James & Lister Lea and Sons. On 2 January 2001, the property consultancy firm merged with Bruton Knowles to produce a combined workforce of approximately 300 people. The firm had offices on Bull Street, Birmingham and also in Knowle, West Midlands, although the Knowle office was sold in 1999 to agricultural surveyors Smith-Woolley. Lister Tonge
Lister Tonge, AKC (born 23 December 1951) is a British Anglican priest. He was Dean of Monmouth from 2012 until the style of the post was changed to Dean of Newport in 2018. He retired as Dean in 2020. Early life and education Tonge was born on 23 December 1951 in Oldham, Lancashire, England. He was educated at Heywood Grammar School, Salford Grammar School, King's College London and Loyola University Chicago. He is the second child of Edward Tonge and Dorothy Tonge (née Clough). Ordained ministry Tonge was ordained in 1975. After a curacy at Liverpool Parish Church he was Precentor of Johannesburg Cathedral from 1978 to 1979. From then until 1991 he was a member of the Community of the Resurrection. He was then resident Chaplain to the Community of St John the Baptist until his appointment as Dean.
