This is an incomplete list of works by the French modern artist Henri Matisse (31 December 1869 – 3 November 1954). He is admired for his use of color and his fluid, brilliant and original draughtsmanship. He was a Master draughtsman, printmaker, and sculptor, but is known primarily as a painter. Matisse Museum (Le Cateau)
The Matisse Museum (''Musée Départemental Henri Matisse'') is a museum in Le Cateau-Cambrésis, France that primarily displays paintings by Henri Matisse. The museum was established by Matisse himself on 8 November 1952; he also defined the way his works should be arranged. At that time the museum was located in the wedding room of the Le Cateau City Hall. In 1956, after the death of Matisse, the collection of the museum was enlarged by the gift of 65 paintings by Auguste Herbin. The Museum was moved to the « Fénelon Palace » (''Palais Fénelon''), also in Le Cateau, in 1982, and its ownership was transferred by the city to the Nord department in 1992; after three years of construction and refurbishment, it reopened on 8 November 2002. The Museum now has the third largest collection of Matisse works in France. Bridgestone Museum Of Art
Artizon Museum , until 2018 , is an art museum in Tokyo, Japan. The museum was founded in 1952 by the founder of Bridgestone Tire Co., Ishibashi Shojiro (his family name means stone bridge). The museum's collections include Impressionists, Post-Impressionists and twentieth-century art by Japanese, European and American artists, as well as ceramic works from Ancient Greece. The museum was located in the headquarters of the Bridgestone Corporation in Chūō, Tokyo. Closure and eventual reopening The museum closed its doors on 18 May 2015 in order to make way for the construction of a new building, where the new Bridgestone Museum of Art will be located. Construction of the new building (tentatively named the Nagasaka Sangyo Kyobashi Building) begun with a groundbreaking ceremony on June 17, 2016 and was completed in 2019. ''Le Mur Rose'' (full title: ''Paysage, le mur rose''; ''Landscape, the Pink Wall''), is a painting by Henri Matisse from 1898. It was bought in Paris at the sale of La Peau de l'Ours on 2 March 1914 by Jewish entrepreneur Harry Fuld, who founded Frankfurt, Germany based H. Fuld & Co. Telefon und Telegraphenwerke AG, which made telephones. After Fuld died on a business trip to Switzerland in 1932, his art collection passed to his son, Harry Fuld, Jr. After the ascent of the Nazi party to power, Fuld fled to safety in Switzerland in 1937, packing the collection into crates. But the collection never left Germany and, after confiscation by the SS, it somehow became the property of SS officer Kurt Gerstein.
