Schoen Lake Provincial Park
Schoen Lake Provincial Park is a provincial park in northeastern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, located east of the community of Woss Lake and southwest of Sayward. The park lies inside the Nimpkish Valley watershed. On October 28, 1977, the " Class A" park was officially created to protect, exhibit and interpret an example of the natural features and processes of the Insular Mountains Natural Region. The park covers a total area of 8,775 hectares (21,684 acres). Within those hectares of park land is a number of lakes, creeks and mountain ranges. Geography The largest lake is Schoen Lake which is long and has a mean depth of . Kiwi Falls is a prominent horsetail waterfall that cascades down from the mountains southeast of Schoen Lake. Taku River/T'aḵú Téiú' Conservancy
Taku River/T'aḵú Téiú' Conservancy is a conservancy located in the Stikine Region of British Columbia, Canada. It was established on June 22, 2012, as a result of the Wóoshtin Wudidaa Atlin Taku Land Use Plan and Taku River Tlingit First Nation Strategic Engagement Agreement. The conservancy protects a large region of pristine wilderness along the Taku River from its confluence with the Nakina and Inklin Rivers to the Alaska-British Columbia border. Name origin The Tlingit name T'aḵú Téiú' means “Heart of the Taku”. Geography Taku River Conservancy covers of pristine wilderness along the entire length of the Taku River Valley, excluding a large area around the unincorporated locality of Tulsequah. Bishop Falls (British Columbia)
Bishop's Falls is a town in the north-central part of the island of Newfoundland in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, with a population of 3,082 at the 2021 census. Geography It is in Division No. 6, on the Exploits River, near the town of Grand Falls-Windsor and the town of Botwood. It is commonly thought of as having the warmest summer temperatures in all of Newfoundland and Labrador. History The railroad played a major part in the area's history, as the town was a central hub during the travels of the "Newfie Bullet" train. There is a trestle in the town which is the longest east of Quebec. The existing trestle is the last of many which were built and destroyed by the strong ice flows (and a flood) that occur in the winter. Strathcona Provincial Park
Strathcona Provincial Park is the oldest provincial park in British Columbia, Canada, and the largest on Vancouver Island. Della Falls is a waterfall located within Strathcona Provincial Park on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. With a total height of , it ranks as the 16th tallest confirmed waterfall in Canada and the second tallest on Vancouver Island after Kiwi Falls in Schoen Lake Provincial Park. Discovery In 1899, prospector and trapper Joe Drinkwater discovered* Della Falls and named them after his wife. Drinkwater also built a 16 km (10 mi) hiking trail to the falls via Drinkwater Creek. Evidence of his gold mining operation, including an aerial tramway he built, can still be seen near the falls. *Discovered in the European context.
