The University of Sierra Leone is the name of the former unitary public university system in Sierra Leone. Established in February 1827, it is the oldest university in Africa. As of May 2005, the University of Sierra Leone was reconstituted into the individual colleges of Fourah Bay College and Njala University college. Eastern Technical University is a university located in Kenema, the third largest city of Sierra Leone, along with the Kenema campus, Eastern Technical University was designed as a multi-campus institution with a campus at Bunumbu in the Kailahun District, (this campus was destroyed in the Sierra Leone Civil War) another at Woama in the Kono District (this campus was planned after the war and two buildings were erected but the site has been abandoned). ATAFOM University International
Atlantic African Oriental Multicultural University International known as ATAFOM University International, is a private University with headquarters in Bangui, Central African Republic (CAR). It has offices in Nigeria, Germany, India, America, England and other locations. The university uses the hybrid teaching model – online and physical classroom – for learning. Njala University
Njala University (NU) is a public university located in Njala and Bo, Sierra Leone. It is the second largest university in Sierra Leone (after the University of Sierra Leone). The largest and main campus of Njala University is in Njala, Moyamba District; the other campus is Bo, the second largest city in Sierra Leone. History NU was originally created as part of the University of Sierra Leone (USL) in 1964 with the help of USAID and offered degrees in conjunction with the University of Illinois. Subsequent legislation in 1972 paired Fourah Bay and Njala under the University of Sierra Leone act, where the presidents of each institution switched the presidency of the USL on a biennial basis.
