This is a list of degree-granting universities and institutions in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan sorted alphabetically by the governorates of Jordan, governorate to which each university belongs. Jordan has both private university, private and public universities, many of which are supported by the government of Jordan and their respective governorates of Jordan, provinces. Jordan has a fairly large number of universities for its size. In addition, there are 50 community colleges in Jordan that are not listed here. Amman
Amman ( , ; , ) is the capital and the largest city of Jordan, and the country's economic, political, and cultural center. With a population of four million as of 2021, Amman is Jordan's primate city and is the largest city in the Levant region, the fifth-largest city in the Arab world, and the tenth-largest metropolitan area in the Middle East. The earliest evidence of settlement in Amman dates to the 8th millennium BC in 'Ain Ghazal, home to the world's oldest statues of the human form. German-Jordanian University
German-Jordanian University (GJU) is a public university located near Madaba, Jordan. It offers more than 20 programs to over 6,000 students, primarily from Jordan and the Middle East. The curriculum differs from other Jordanian universities, with German language courses offered as preparation for the fourth academic year at a university of applied sciences in Germany and an introduction to German industry through an obligatory internship within the framework of the study program. Applied Science Private University (ASU) is a private institution of higher education located in Jordan. Founded in 1989 and officially inaugurated in October 1991, ASU operates under the Arab International Company for Education and Investment. Amman Arab University
Amman Arab University (), abbreviated AAU, is a private university in Amman, Jordan. It was established in 1997 as a non-profit private university for graduate studies. AAU was the first Jordanian university to specialize in postgraduate programs for masters and doctoral studies. On 30 September 1998, the university received a permit from Higher Education Council. The first group of students began studying there in 1999/2000. Initially the university offered only graduate programs but it began to accept undergraduates in 2009. Al-Isra University
Isra University () is a private university in Amman, Jordan. It was established in 1989, the first scholastic year started in fall 1991. The university offers the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in thirty two majors in ten different faculties, and twelve Master's programs (M.Sc) The university started receiving the first batch of students in the educational fields in 1991/1992.
