An ultramarathon is a footrace longer than the traditional marathon distance of . The sport of running ultramarathons is called ultra running or ultra distance running. Various distances, surfaces, and formats are raced competitively, from the shortest common ultramarathon of and up to 3100 miles. Around is typically the longest course distance raced in under 24 hours, but there are also longer multiday races commonly held as 48 hours, , or more, sometimes raced in stages with breaks for sleep. Javelina Jundred is a 100 mile (160 km) ultramarathon held by Aravaipa Running at McDowell Mountain Regional Park in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Founded in 2002, it is one of the most popular ultramarathons in the United States, with over 850 runners as of 2023. The course also hosts shorter distances including a and a race. The race is named for the ''javelina.'' Race course and description Javelina Jundred is unique among top 100 mile races in that the course consists of loops that all begin and end at race headquarters. İznik Ultramarathon
İznik Ultramarathon, shortly İznik Ultra, is an international trail running ultramarathon event that takes place at İznik town of Bursa Province in northwestern Turkey. It was established in 2012 with the first race held on 14-15 April. Lasting two days, the race is Turkey's longest single-stage athletic event. The course is a loop around the Lake Iznik with a distance of and a total elevation gain of . İznik Ultra consists of the part races as the 80k "Orhangazi Ultra", the 42k "İznik Mountain Marathon" and additionally a city fun run "İznik 10k". The Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run is an ultramarathon in length, with of climb at an average elevation of over . The race is held on a loop course on 4WD roads, dirt trails, and cross country in Southern Colorado's San Juan Range, US. Grand Canyon Ultra Marathon
The Grand Canyon 24 hour Ultra Marathon is a 24-hour ultramarathon that takes the participants through one of the most striking environments on earth, the Grand Canyon. The race took place for the first time in October, 2010. The race takes participants out on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, the much less visited area of the Canyon. The race is a race in 24 hours, similar to the Namibian ultra marathon. The runners are self-reliant during the race and have to carry all food and water with them. Ultramaratón Fuego Y Agua
Produced by Fuego y Agua Events LLC, Ultramaratón Fuego y Agua is an extremely challenging set of foot races on Isla de Ometepe in Nicaragua. The race is composed of four different event options, the 25k, 50k ultramarathon 100k ultramarathon and the Application only 70k obstacle course. The 100k course is a single loop encompassing most of the island and involves the ascent and descent of both volcanoes. The 25k and 50k courses cover part of the 100k course. The course changes every year and is a surprise. Because of the volcanoes, the island holds several microclimates of jungle, dry tropics, tropical beach, and cloud forest. Fjällmaraton (literally ''Mountain Marathon'' in Swedish) is a Racing, long distance race, considered one of the hardest and most important one-day mountain marathons in Sweden. The Canadian Death Race is a foot race through the Canadian rocky mountains in Grande Cache, Alberta. It includes three mountain summits, one major river crossing, and 17,000 feet of elevation change. The race has been held annually on the August long weekend since the year 2000.
