List Of Towns In Lahore
Based on the Punjab, Pakistan, Punjab Village Panchayats and Neighbourhood Councils Bill 2019 (PVPaNCB 2019), published April 23, 2019, Union Councils (UCs) will be replaced by Neighbourhood Councils (NCs). While this law will result in much smaller council areas for the panchayats in rural areas and for the NCs in smaller towns and cities, the change for the City District of Lahore, Pakistan, will be limited. In first schedule of the PVPaNCB 2019 (p. 23), the maximum of permitted neighbourhoods for Lahore is fixed as 280. Since 2015, 274 Union Councils have existed in the City District of Lahore. The names and boundaries of the new neighbourhoods will be published in the official Punjab gazette before the end of October 2019. Gawalmandi is a residential town located in central Lahore, in Pakistan's Punjab province. It is regarded as the cultural centre of Lahore. Ghurki (Urdu: گھرکی ) is the name of a village of Arain tribe on the outskirts of Lahore, Punjab. Barki (), or Burki, is a village in Lahore District of Punjab, Pakistan near the city of Lahore. It is located near the border with Punjab, India. Before the partition of India in 1947, it joined through Harikey Road. It is about 11 kilometers from Allama Iqbal International Airport. It is on the bank of Bambawali-Ravi-Bedian Canal. It gives its name to the Battle of Burki, which took place during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965. It is a centre of education for the border belt. Malik Meraj Khalid, former Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan and Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, founded Anjuman Ikhwan-e-Islam in 1939 and later on Ikhwan school and college in the village.
