Discover Barbados Television also known as The Visitor Channel, is available in a number of hotels around the island. The Discover Barbados Channel caters to tourists coming to Barbados and brings programming to some of the most notable places of interest to visit, cultural shows, and other aspects of Barbados' history and culture. The Bermuda Broadcasting Company Ltd. is a commercial, for-profit broadcasting company located in Bermuda. Sometimes abbreviated locally as "BBC", the Bermuda Broadcasting Company is not related to the BBC, the United Kingdom, UK's public broadcasting company. The company was founded in the 1950s and grown to be the largest broadcasting company in Bermuda. It was chaired by Fernance B. Perry, a prominent entrepreneur in Bermuda, until his death. Broadcast stations The Bermuda Broadcasting Company's radio stations and TV stations use the call letters "ZFB" and "ZBM". The ZBM call sign has been in use since 1953 for an AM radio station, since 1962 for an FM radio station, making it one of the oldest in Bermuda. Belmopan
Belmopan () is the capital city of Belize. Its population in 2010 was 16,451. Belmopan is the smallest capital city in the continental Americas (by population) and the third-largest settlement in Belize, behind Belize City and San Ignacio. Founded as a planned community in 1970, it is one of the newest national capital cities in the world. Since 2000, Belmopan has been one of two settlements in Belize to hold official city status, along with Belize City. Belmopan is located in Cayo District at an altitude of above sea level. Belmopan was constructed just to the east of the Belize River, inland from the former capital, the port of Belize City, after that city's near destruction by Hurricane Hattie in 1961. Krem Television
XTV, formerly known as Krem Television is a Belizean television station established in 2004 and serving Belize City. Its manager is KREM Radio alumnus Evan "Mose" Hyde and it is part of KREMANDALA Ltd. Establishment Since the late 1990s Kremandala Ltd., already holding portions of the newspaper and radio market in Belize, applied for a television license. The feud over the license dragged on for months; established media houses claimed Krem chairman Evan X Hyde was trying to corner the media market in Belize. Eventually KREM was granted license, and test broadcasts started in 2002. Test broadcasts Test broadcasts were conducted in 2002 and 2003, on CBC Channel 3 in Belize City. Orange Walk Town
Orange Walk is the fourth largest town in Belize, with a population of about 13,400 (Official Release of the Main Findings of the 2010 Population and Housing Census). It is the capital of the Orange Walk District. Orange Walk Town is located on the left bank of the New River, north of Belize City and south of Corozal Town. Despite the English name of the city, its residents are primarily Spanish-speaking mestizos. History In the days of the Maya civilization, the area was known as Holpatin. The district is home to the largest Maya temple of the pre-classic period. The Maya of the area came in contact with the Europeans in the 1530s, after which the two groups fought over land.
