Tropical Storm Leslie (2000)
Tropical Storm Leslie was a weak, short-lived tropical cyclone in October 2000 that had significant impacts in its developmental stage. The 12th named storm of the 2000 Atlantic hurricane season, Leslie formed on October 4 over eastern Florida as a subtropical cyclone. It originated from a tropical wave that interacted with a stalled cold front over southern Florida. Their interaction produced intense rainbands across the Miami metropolitan area, with the heaviest rainfall on October 3. After moving away from the state, the weather system became more organized and evolved into a tropical cyclone. Leslie briefly threatened the island of Bermuda while moving northeastward, but it passed northwest of the island. Hurricane Leslie (2012)
Hurricane Leslie was an Atlantic tropical cyclone that caused minor damage in Bermuda and Atlantic Canada in September 2012. The twelfth tropical cyclone of the annual hurricane season, Leslie developed from a tropical wave located nearly east of the Leeward Islands on August 30. About twelve hours later, it strengthened into Tropical Storm Leslie. Tracking steadily west-northwestward, it slowly intensified due to only marginally favorable conditions. By September 2, the storm curved north-northwestward while located north of the Leeward Islands. Thereafter, a blocking pattern over Atlantic Canada caused Leslie to drift for four days. Late on September 5, Leslie was upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane. Hurricane Leslie (known as Storm Leslie or Cyclone Leslie while extratropical) was the strongest cyclone of Tropical cyclone, tropical origin to strike the Iberian Peninsula since Tropical cyclone effects in Europe#Pre-1900, 1842. A large, long-lived, and very erratic tropical cyclone, Leslie was the twelfth named storm and sixth hurricane of the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season. The storm had a non-tropical origin, developing from an extratropical cyclone that was situated over the northern Atlantic on 22 September. The low quickly acquired subtropical cyclone, subtropical characteristics and was classified as Subtropical Storm Leslie on the following day. The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season was a very active and extremely destructive Atlantic hurricane season that became the third-costliest on record, behind only 2017 and 2005.
