Assam Legislative Assembly
The Assam Legislative Assembly is the unicameral Assam Legislature, legislature of the List of states and union territories of India, Indian state of Assam. It is housed in Dispur, the capital city of Assam, geographically situated in present Lower Assam, Western Assam region. The Legislative Assembly comprises 126 Member of the Legislative Assembly (India), Members of Legislative Assembly, directly elected from single-seat constituencies. Its term is five years, unless sooner dissolved. The presiding officer of the Assembly is the List of speakers of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Speaker, currently Biswajit Daimary. Pulakesh Barua
Pulakesh Barua is an Indian politician from the state of Assam. He had formed the Natun Asom Gana Parishad (NAGP), a regional political party in 1991 along with Dinesh Goswami and Bhrigu Kumar Phukan but merged the party with the Asom Gana Parishad in 1994. He was the speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly from 9 January 1986 – 27 July 1991. Having later joined AJPAssam Jatiya Parishad, he was an active member of that party as on 19 November 2020. Hitendra Nath Goswami is an Indian politician from Bharatiya Janata Party. He served as Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly from 30 January 2017 to 20 May 2021. Goswami is a member of Assam Legislative Assembly from Jorhat constituency. He was a member of Asom Gana Parishad until 16 February 2013, when he resigned from the party membership "expressing his frustration at the failure of the party leadership to bring in new blood to revive the regional force". Pranab Kumar Gogoi (19 August 1936 – 3 February 2020) was an Indian lawyer and politician from Assam belonging to Indian National Congress. He was elected four times as a legislator of the Assam Legislative Assembly. He also served as the speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly and minister of the Government of Assam.
