Bayrampaşa (pronounced ) is a municipality and district of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 9km2 (3.4 sq mi, 2,000 acres, 800 ha) and its population is 275,314 (2022). It is on the European side of the city. The mayor is Hasan Mutlu ( CHP), in office since April 2024. History The district was created in 1990 from part of the Eyüp district. Before 1936, Bayrampaşa was part of Fatih district. Until 1970, the area was known as Sağmalcılar, when a large outbreak of cholera, caused by pollution of the Ottoman-built water supply by new buildings and factories, led to the area being quarantined. Following this incident, the name Sağmalcılar became synonymous with cholera, so the district was renamed Bayrampaşa, after the 17th-century Ottoman grand vizier Bayram Pasha. Carousel Shopping Center (), opened in 1995, is a modern shopping mall located in the Bakırköy district of Istanbul, Turkey. The shopping center with its 76,500 m² area has 117 shops, fast food restaurants, cafeterias, an entertainment center, and movie theaters. There are 7 elevators and 12 escalators providing easy access to 1.5 million visitors monthly. Car parking is free for the shoppers. Capitol Shopping Center
Capitol Shopping Centre (), opened in 1993 in Altunizade neighbourhood of Üsküdar, is the first modern big shopping mall on the Asian part of Istanbul, Turkey. Built on 6 floors and covering an area of 73,000 m2, the shopping complex houses 157 retail stores, a department store and an MMM Migros Türk, Migros supermarket, 8 movie theaters, fast food restaurants, cafeterias, bowling alley and entertainment center. It houses also Capitol Radio, a private radio station broadcasting from the complex. It has an open air and covered parking lot. Several cafes are located in the area around a huge central spring fountain. Capitol Shopping Centre also has a movie theatre which has 14 different parts. Ataşehir is a municipality and Districts of Turkey, district of Istanbul, Istanbul, Turkey. Its area is 25 km2, and its population is 423,127 (2022). It is located at the junction of the Otoyol 2, O-2 and Otoyol 4, O-4 motorways on the Anatolian (Asian) side of Istanbul. Beylikdüzü () is a municipality and district of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 39 km2, and its population is 415,290 (2024). It is on the European side of Istanbul, located north of the Sea of Marmara, south of Esenyurt, east of Büyükçekmece, and west of Avcılar. History It is assumed that Beylikdüzü was first settled by Greeks from Byzantion in the second century AD as a farming village. It later became a popular resort for residents of Constantinople in the Byzantine Empire, a status that continued after the Fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Empire. The region was referred to as "Garden" in the later Ottoman period, and following the foundation of the Turkish Republic was called "Kavaklı," after the large number of poplar trees, a name which was used until 2003. Sultanbeyli () is a municipality and district of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 29 km2, and its population is 358,201 (2022).
