Kingscourt
Kingscourt, historically known as Dunaree (), is a town in County Cavan, Ireland. It is located near the Cavan–Meath border. The town was founded near the site of the old village of Cabra, by Mervyn Pratt, towards the end of the 18th century, and was completed by his brother, the Reverend Joseph Pratt. As of the 2022 census, the population was 2,955. History Cabra Castle, an early 19th-century ' Gothic-style' castle, is located very near the town, being on the R179 road (known locally as the Carrickmacross Road). The castle was originally called Cormey Castle and was built on the site of an earlier Cormey Castle which had been destroyed during the Cromwellian War. The castle has, in recent years, been restored and expanded and is now a four-star hotel which is popular for weddings. North Monastery
The North Monastery ( Irish: ''An Mhainistir Thuaidh''), commonly known as The Mon, is a co-educational education campus comprising Scoil Mhuire Fatima Primary School, North Monastery Co-educational Secondary and Gaelcholáiste Mhuire AG, located at Our Lady's Mount, Cork, Ireland. History The North Monastery was founded on 9 November 1811 when Brother Jerome O'Connor and Brother John Baptist Leonard were given charge of a school in Chapel Lane by the Bishop of Cork, Rev Dr Moylan. Seventeen students attended on the first day. In 1814, a 14-acre sloping site was acquired from a wealthy Catholic businessman, Sir George Goold, Baronet, and a new school was built. The North Monastery had found its permanent home. An outbreak of typhus fever in the city in 1816 saw the school being used as a temporary hospital. Gurrane National School
Crossbarry () is a small village on the R589 regional road in Innishannon parish, County Cork, Ireland. It is about 20 km southwest of the city of Cork. The River Owenabue flows through the village. The West Cork Railway once ran through the village, and Junction railway station served as a connection to Kinsale, just to the east. The Crossbarry ambush took place at the village during the Irish War of Independence. It has two schools nearby (Gurrane and Knockavilla national schools), as well as other creche, childcare and playschool facilities. In 2007, the road from Bandon was improved, bypassing the Crossbarry ambush memorial. Rice College
Rice College (Coláiste an Rísigh in Irish) is a secondary school in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland founded in 1826. It is also a C.B.S with a house on the property where "Brothers" still reside. No Brothers teach in the secondary school but it was previously run by the religious order. It was formerly an all-boys school, although girls were first admitted to repeat their leaving certificate examinations in 1985, it became coeducational in 1997. In 2006 construction started on an extension and was completed in early 2007. The school offers a wide range of subjects for students to choose from and since 2019 have required first years to choose a language and 2 optional subjects before they arrive. St Joseph's Secondary School, Tulla
St Joseph's Secondary School, Tulla is an Irish co-educational secondary school located in Tulla, County Clare. It is a Roman Catholic secondary school under the trusteeship of CEIST (Catholic Education, an Irish Schools Trust). History Secondary education began in Tulla in 1950, when 38 students enrolled in the Sisters of Mercy school behind the church. The first Leaving Certificate class graduated in 1954. Work on a new school began in 1956 and was completed the following year at a cost of £12,000. At that time 100 students were on the school rolls. Due to expanding enrolment as a result of free second-level education it was decided to move to a new location in 1970 at Fogarty's Cross. The school worked on a split site for a while until the building was completed in 1985. Ennis National School
Ennis National School is a primary school in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland Ireland (, ; ; Ulster Scots dialect, Ulster-Scots: ) is an island in the North Atlantic Ocean, in Northwestern Europe. The school's curriculum includes participating in "Ennis Information Age Schools", leading a poetry project. A team of pupils won the 2003 national Cadbury/NPC Challenge Quiz, out of 1,800 schools. County Clare () is a Counties of Ireland, county in the Provinces of Ireland, province of Munster in the Southern Region, Ireland, Southern part of Republic of Ireland, Ireland, bordered on the west by the Atlantic Ocean. Bailieboro Community School
Bailieborough Community School, alternatively spelled as Bailieboro, and commonly referred to as BCS, is a community school located in the town of Bailieborough, County Cavan, Ireland. The school was an amalgamation of two previous schools in the town; Bailieborough Vocation School, colloquially called The Tech; and Lourdesville Secondary School, colloquially referred to as 'The Convent'. The school was built on the site of the existing Lourdesville School, and was opened on the 8 November 1982 by the then Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, John Wilson. The school has 36 teaching classrooms, a physical education gym, a gaelic football pitch and two car parks. As of 2019, there were over 630 students enrolled in BCS.
