List Of Provincial Parks In British Columbia
The British Columbia Parks and Protected Areas System is the collection of physical properties owned or administered by BC Parks, an agency of the British Columbia Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy. These protected areas are established by order-in-council under one of several different pieces of enabling legislation. The system includes 644 provincial parks, 2 recreation areas, 156 conservancies, 84 protected areas, and 148 ecological reserves. Four provincial parks are designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites, while 24 provincial parks are designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserves. Alexandra Bridge Provincial Park
Alexandra Bridge Park lies within the lower Fraser Canyon of British Columbia, Canada. This provincial park is adjacent to the historic suspension bridge from 1926, which spans the Fraser River and was built using the eastern abutment of the bridge from 1863. The locality, on BC Highway 1, is by road about north of Hope and south of Lytton. West of the park The Teequaloose 3A reserve is on the western side of bridge. The Nlaka'pamux and Sto:lo First Nations have inhabited the area for about 10,000 years. Evidence exists of an early pole bridge to access important fishing spots. Traditional fishing has continued at the bridge site during the salmon runs. The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) is a regional district in the Canadian province of British Columbia, Canada. In the 2016 census, the population was 60,439. Its area is . The regional district offices are in Cranbrook, the largest community in the region. Other important population centres include the cities of Kimberley and Fernie, and the district municipality of Invermere and Sparwood. Akamina-Kishinena Provincial Park is a provincial park located in the southeastern corner of British Columbia, Canada. The park was established by order-in-council on July 13, 1995, to protect the ecological integrity of a relatively narrow stretch of the Rocky Mountains in the southeastern corner of the province. History and conservation The trails and passes of the Akamina-Kishinena were used for many years by the early peoples and wildlife travelling between the Flathead Basin and the abundant Great Plains. For instance, the Kootenai aboriginal people travelled through South Kootenay Pass to reach the plains for trading and buffalo hunting. Since 1917, conservationists have advocated for the preservation of the Flathead River watershed in the southeastern corner of the province. The Columbia–Shuswap Regional District is a regional district in the Canadian province of British Columbia, located in the Southern Interior region on the Trans-Canada Highway between Vancouver and Calgary, Alberta. Adams Lake Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada. It encompasses three distinct parks: Adams Lake ( Bush Creek Site) Provincial Park, Adams Lake Marine Provincial Park (Poplar Point Site), and Adams Lake Marine Provincial Park (Spillman Beach Site). The parks are located east of Kamloops, and 30 kilometres north of Chase, or North of Kamloops and 48 kilometres east of Louis Creek.
