Vasantham () is a Tamil-language free-to-air terrestrial television channel in Singapore, owned by state media conglomerate Mediacorp. The channel broadcasts entertainment and news programming targeting the Singaporean Tamil community. It’s the dominant local channel targeted at the Indian community in Singapore. History Since the inception of television broadcasting in Singapore, Tamil-language programming had been broadcast by Mediacorp and its predecessors via its existing channels; after having carried programming in all four of Singapore's official languages on Channel 5 and 8, the channels were split on 30 March 1973. Channel 5 would focus on English and Malay, and Channel 8 would focus on Chinese and Tamil. The series' first season was aired from 22 December 2014 to 31 March 2015 every Monday to Thursday at 10:00PM SST for 48 episodes. ''Kannadi Pookal'' () is a 2005 Indian Tamil-language film directed by K. Shahjahan. It was released on 18 February 2005. The film was a remake of Malayalam film '' Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum''. It won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Third Best Film. Plot Meera marries her neighbor Sakthiv after Sakthiv's wife dies in childbirth, leaving him with their son Vasudevan. Meera decides not to have children and raises Vasu as her own son; the three of them lead a very happy life. However, Meera's widowed father, Big Bird, is unhappy because his lineage will end and his wealth will be depleted if Meera has a child of her own.
