The university has known twenty-three leaders serve; and except for Super, Crook, McDavis, Nellis, Sherman, and Stewart Gonzalez, all presidents of the university have buildings named after them, most notably Ping Recreation Center and Baker University Center; the remaining buildings are residence halls and operations buildings. Lori Stewart Gonzalez
Lori Lee Stewart Gonzalez (born October 20, 1957) is an American speech pathologist and academic administrator serving as the 23rd president of Ohio University since 2023. She was the interim president of the University of Louisville from 2022 to 2023. Early life and education Gonzalez was born the eldest of three daughters on October 20, 1957, in Mount Vernon, Kentucky, to Ruby Harmon and Wayne Stewart. She completed a B.A. in speech-pathology and audiology from the University of Kentucky. She earned a M.A. in communication disorders from Eastern Kentucky University. She earned a Ph.D. in communication sciences and disorders from the University of Florida. Her 1989 dissertation was titled, ''Relationship Between Severity of Phonological Disability and Generalization of Learning of /s/ Plus Stop Clusters in Young Children''. Jacob Lindley
Jacob Lindley (June 13, 1774 – January 29, 1857) was the first president of Ohio University, between 1809 and 1822. Life Lindley was educated at Thaddeus Dod's log college (later Jefferson College) and College of New Jersey. He was one of the founders of the Franklin Literary Society at Jefferson College. Jacob and Hannah's eldest child was Daniel Lindley who was born in Pennsylvania on 24 August 1801. He was a missionary in South Africa. He and his wife Lucy founded the Inanda Seminary School in 1869.
