The flag of Sarawak, a state of Malaysia, is based on the flag of the Raj of Sarawak of the White Rajah, and includes the yellow of Southeast Asian royalty — a similar yellow and diagonal black are in the flag of Brunei, although Brunei's yellow is of a brighter shade. History of the Sarawak Flag during the reign of James Brooke James Brooke, the first White Rajah sailed from England in Dec of 1838, on The Royalist, which was a ship registered with the Royal Yacht Squadron. As such, it was permitted to fly a White Ensign and a Royal Yacht Squadron burgee. Various authors have suggested that James may have used these flags to represent himself and possibly even Sarawak before 1848, but no evidence has been cited to prove this flag was ever used to represent Sarawak itself. Ahmad Lai Bujang
Datuk Haji Ahmad Lai bin Bujang (26 November 1949 – 9 August 2019) was a Malaysian politician. He was the Member of the Parliament of Malaysia for the Sibuti constituency in Sarawak, representing the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) in the governing Barisan Nasional coalition. Ahmad was elected to Parliament in the 2008 election, defeating Michael Teo Yu Keng of the People's Justice Party. Prior to being elected as a member of parliament, he was one of the political secretaries to the then- Chief Minister of Sarawak, Abdul Taib Mahmud. Kapit
Kapit is a town and the capital of Kapit District in Kapit Division, Sarawak, Malaysia on the south bank of the Rajang River. The district comprises 15,595.6 square kilometres and as of 2020 has a population of 65,800. Kapit is accessible by boat (slightly more than 2 hours from Sibu by express boat), light aircraft, and most recently by road. Reaching Kapit by car and bus from Sibu takes about 1 hour 30 minutes or about 1 hour from Song.
