USS ''PC-1137'' was a built for the United States Navy during World War II. After World War II, the ship was renamed USS ''PCC-1137'''','' reflecting her new role as a combat communications control ship. Later, in 1956, she was renamed ''Worthington'' (PC-1137) although she never saw active service under this name. Career ''PC-1137'' was laid down on 29 December 1942 at the Defoe Shipbuilding Company in Bay City, Michigan. She was launched on 29 March 1943 and then towed down the Mississippi River to New Orleans for outfitting and acceptance trials. She was officially commissioned on 23 October 1943. ''PC-1137'' headed for the southwestern Pacific late in November, after shakedown training at the Submarine Chaser Training Center based at Pier 2 at PortMiami, Florida. The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) is both a defense agency and a combat support agency within the United States Department of Defense (DoD) for countering weapons of mass destruction (WMD; chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high explosives) and supporting the nuclear enterprise. Operation Castle
Operation Castle was a United States series of high-yield (high-energy) nuclear tests by Joint Task Force 7 (JTF-7) at Bikini Atoll beginning in March 1954. It followed ''Operation Upshot–Knothole'' and preceded '' Operation Teapot''. Conducted as a joint venture between the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) and the Department of Defense (DoD), the ultimate objective of the operation was to test designs for an aircraft-deliverable thermonuclear weapon. All the devices tested, which ranged in weight from , were built to be dropped from aircraft. However, ballistic casings, fins and fusing systems would have to be attached. Operation Castle was considered by government officials to be a success as it proved the feasibility of deployable "dry" fuel designs for thermonuclear weapons. USS Minah (AMc-204)
USS ''PCS-1465'' was a built for the United States Navy during World War II. Late in the war she was renamed and reclassified ''Minah'' (AMc-204), and in the 1950s reclassified first as AMCU-14 and later as MHC-14. Named for the myna under a variant spelling, she was the only U.S. Navy ship of that name. History ''PCS‑1465'' was laid down 17 June 1943 by Astoria Marine Construction Co. of Astoria, Oregon; launched 27 December 1943; commissioned 15 February 1944. Assigned to commander western sea frontier, ''PCS 1465'' patrolled and trained off the west coast until late in December 1944. Sailing to Pearl Harbor she underwent conversion to an underwater location vessel and consequently 10 January 1945 was armed and redesignated ''Minah'' (AMc 204). USS ''PGM-18'' was a built for the United States Navy during World War II. She was built and originally commissioned as USS ''PC-1255'', a , and was decommissioned and converted in late 1944. USS PGM-18 struck a mine off the coast of Okinawa in April 1945; 13 men lost their lives when ''PGM-18'' sank. Career ''PC-1255'' was built by the Luders Marine Construction Company in Stamford, Connecticut. She was laid down on 29 September 1943 and launched on 23 January 1944. USS ''PGM-17'' was a built for the United States Navy during World War II. She was laid down and launched as USS ''PC-1189'', a , but was renamed and reclassified before her November 1944 commissioning. She ran aground near Okinawa in May 1945. She was salvaged a month later, but was never repaired. She was towed to deep water and sunk in October 1945. Career ''PC-1189'' was laid down on 10 August 1943 and launched 14 April 1944. She was renamed and reclassified ''PGM-17'', a ''PGM-9'' gunboat on 16 August 1944. She was commissioned as USS ''PGM-17'' on 24 November 1944 and assigned to the Pacific theater. She was commissioned as USS ''PC-1181'' on 17 September 1943 at Charleston Navy Yard in Charleston, South Carolina.
