In Music industry, music, a single is a type of Art release#Music, release of a song Sound recording, recording of fewer tracks than an album (LP record, LP), typically one or two tracks. A single can be released for record sales, sale to the public in a variety of physical or digital formats. Singles may be standalone tracks or connected to an artist's album, and in the latter case would often have at least one single release before the album itself, called lead singles. Pussycat was a Dutch country and pop group led by the three Veldpaus sisters: Toni (born 1953), Betty (1952–2024), and Marianne (born 1951). Other members of the band were guitarists Lou Willé (Toni's then-husband), Theo Wetzels, Theo Coumans, and John Theunissen. Their song "Mississippi" was a number one hit in most European countries, including the UK, in 1975/6. Career Prior to forming the band, the three sisters were telephone operators in Limburg, whilst Theunissen, Wetzels, and Coumans were in a group called Scum. Lou Willé played in a group called Ricky Rendall and His Centurions until he married Toni, and created the group Sweet Reaction that eventually became known as Pussycat. In 1975 they scored a big European hit with the song "Mississippi". The Floaters were an American Rhythm and blues, R&B vocal group, from the Sojourner Truth Project, Sojourner Truth housing projects in Detroit, Michigan, that formed in 1976. The group are best known for their 1977 song "Float On (The Floaters song), Float On", which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100, No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart, and No. 5 on the Irish Singles Chart. Career The band was formed by the former Detroit Emeralds' singer James Mitchell, with his brother Paul Mitchell, Larry Cunningham, Charles Clark, and the unrelated Ralph Mitchell. "Heaven on the 7th Floor" is a pop song that became a 1977 hit single for British singer Paul Nicholas. It was his biggest U.S. hit, a track from his eponymous debut LP. The song spent three weeks at number 6 on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100. during November and December of that year. "Heaven On The 7th Floor" became a Gold record. It reached number 49 in Canada. Paul Nicholas (born Paul Oscar Beuselinck; 3 December 1944) is an English actor and singer best known for starring as Vince Pinner in the BBC television sitcom '' Just Good Friends'' (1983—86). The show won a BAFTA and Nicholas was nominated for best comedy performance. Nicholas started out with a pop career, but soon changed to musical theatre, playing the lead role in ''Jesus Christ Superstar'' at the West End’s Palace Theatre in 1972. After ''Just Good Friends'' ended, he returned to musical theatre and various other entertainment roles, including producing and directing.
