Tony Mottola
Anthony C. "Tony" Mottola (April 18, 1918 – August 9, 2004) was an American jazz guitarist who released dozens of solo albums. Mottola was born in Kearny, New Jersey and died in Denville. Career Like many of his contemporaries, Mottola began learning to play the banjo, but then took up the guitar. He had his first guitar lessons from his father. He toured with an orchestra led by George Hall in 1936, marking the beginning of his professional life. Mottola's first recordings were duets with the guitarist Carl Kress. By the age of only twenty-one, he was recruited by Kress to serve as a staff guitarist at the CBS Radio network. During his tenure with the network he founded the "Tony Mottola Trio" which was featured on Johnny Desmond's show "Face the Music". Los Apson
Los Apson is a former Mexican rock-n-roll band, best known in the 1960s for their Spanish language cover versions of famous songs. History The band was formed in 1957 by Arturo Durazo, a guitarist and a rock-n-roll enthusiast, with his brother Francisco “Pancho” Durazo. Both of them had a relatively easy access to popular English hits of the time as they lived in the border town of Agua Prieta, Sonora. Originally named Los Apson Boys, they quickly shortened it to Los Apson, the band's name came from the first letters of the town, and the first three from the state. They were quickly joined by José Luis García and Frankie Gámez along with Raúl Hernández Cota and Gil Maldonado. Despite the town's preference for '' ranchera'' music, they gained a following which expanded beyond the borders of their small town. Marco Antonio Muñiz
Marco Antonio Muñiz Vega (born 3 March 1933) is a Mexican singer from Jalisco, Mexico. Known across Latin America, he also acted in the 1965 film '' Sinful'' (Spanish: El Pecador). He belongs to the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Early life and career Muñiz was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco. From an early age, he showed musical talent. He first acquired notoriety in the 50s as part of the trio Los Tres Ases, with whom he recorded many hits until he decided to embark on a solo career in 1960. Muñiz's first album was a tribute to singers of other eras. It was titled "Aquellas Canciones!" ("Those Songs!"), and it was released in 1956. That was the first of close to 80 albums, all of which he recorded under the BMG or RCA Internacional labels. The Brass Ring
The Brass Ring was a group of American studio musicians led by saxophonist and arranger Phil Bodner. The band was based in New York City and was stylistically similar to The Tijuana Brass, The Brass Buttons, the Baja Marimba Band, and other "Now Sound" instrumental pop groups from the 1960s, although the twin-sax sound more closely resembles the music of Billy Vaughn, whose biggest hits were in the 1950s. In addition to several successful albums for ABC/Dunhill Records, the Brass Ring had two hit singles. The first, " Love Theme from the Flight of the Phoenix", was used in the movie '' The Flight of the Phoenix'', and it reached #32 on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in 1966.
